Dang! I can’t wait for you to taste this year’s release, the 2006 Phifer Pavitt Date Night Cabernet Sauvignon! Last year we were very fortunate to have The Wine Spectator award our first release 90 points and talk about its “…rich, plush style…balanced, intense and concentrated…depth and focus…”
Another honor was having this wine be chosen as one of The San Francisco Chronicle’s Top 100 Wines, where Jon Bonne mentioned “… The name and cowgirl label of this Napa newcomer belie an impressively serious effort made from Pope Valley grapes. Defined by a gorgeous, deep nose: blackberry, violet, mint and a perfume overtone. Black fruit on the palate is just plain lovely – bold, pitch-perfect and ripe, with broad, finessed seductive tannins.”
Most recently The Wine Spectator had a sneak peek at our 2006, bestowing a score of 93 points and describing the wine as”… well-crafted, tight and structured, with a complex blend of currant, boysenberry, black cherry and plum fruit framed by chewy, integrated tannins.”
As you know, we are a very tiny producer, which means that the 275 cases of the 2006 we made will fly out our proverbial window. If you have bought from us in the past, we will hold your allocation until May 22nd before opening that window to a thirsty world! In case you are wondering if we have any 2005 left, sadly…. we don’t!
In closing, we wanted to express our thanks to you as a customer and also shine a light on our great team, which includes our winegrower, Arthur Spencer, our winemaker, Ted Osborne and our graphics designer, Kim Wedlake.
We’ll be in touch occasionally as we plan events and our travels–in the meantime, remember…. “life doesn’t come with a pause button, cherish those moments”… and schedule yourself a datenight!

Suzanne Phifer Pavitt
(From Eve: I met, and was completely charmed by, Suzanne at a wine event in Hollywood early last year. I tried Datenight for the first time then. When Eddie and I attended the Sonoma Wine Country Weekend we first spent one night at Suzanne’s home in Napa. The combination of her Southern hospitality and her Napa Cab completely won us over. We have been huge fans of her incredible datenight wine and frankly, couldn’t describe, or rate it, any better than the big guns have here. But for us, it’s never just the wine, but the winemakers behind it that makes it memorable. If you want to read my full story this is the link: http://santaclaritaguide.com/WebDrivenWine.html)
