Local winery seeks move to Old Town Newhall
Needs your support
SANTA CLARITA, CA – 6 February 2010 – The Santa Clarita public is NO LONGER (SEE LAST POST IN THIS SECTION) encouraged to attend the Santa Clarita city council meeting Tuesday night, February 9, at 6pm and support Pulchella Winery speaking out on the unnecessary permitting that the city is requesting in order to move into Old Town Newhall and open the first SCV tasting room.  This is not an industry standard, and your help is needed for the city to know it.
If  Pulchella is forced to file for this permit, locals may never get a tasting room in Newhall.  This will set a path for future winemakers so the decision is very important for us all.  There will be many supporters present but more are needed.  Please come down and show your support, or better yet, step up to the stage and speak on Pulchella’s behalf.
Pulchella Winery, owned by local residents Steve Lemley and Nate Hasper, focuses on producing very small quantities of hand crafted, ultra premium cult wines from the highest quality Paso Robles grapes.  http://www.pulchellawinery.com/

Update from Steve Lemley 2/7/10:
Join us on Tuesday as we speak at the open forum before the city council meeting being held at city hall. We are being asked to apply for redundant permits and are asking the city council to consider waving the permit so that we can open our tasting room in old town Newhall as soon as possible. The building has been picked, the process in motion and this permit is the only thing stopping us from making our dreams reality.

2/8 UPDATE: DO NOT ATTEND CITY COUNCIL MEETING 2/9/10

Eve,  On behalf of everyone at Pulchella Winery, we want to write and thank not only you but all of our readers and supporters.  As a result of all your letters, posts, emails and calls, enough visibility was brought to the city that they are working to provide us the proper method in which we will need to open our tasting room in Old Town Newhall.  The city has been very cooperative and supports us 100% as well.  So together with all of your help we will hopefully have a tasting room on Main Street as soon as two months.  As we have resolved the permit issue, we will not be attending tomorrows city council meeting.  We will keep everyone updated through Eve.  Thanks again for everyone’s support and we look forward to pouring you all a glass very soon.

Cheers,
Pulchella Winery
Steve and Nate.
