Wine Tasting in the British Virgin Islands with Gary Warburton

“We just donated and “silent-auctioned” a bottle of ’06 Date Night at the GRAND AFFAIR here in the BVI.  It is the Rotary Club’s annual black tie fundraiser for the year.  Last year the dinner/gala was held in Road Town at the Governor’s mansion where our :05 brought $475 for the charity.  This year we all took a ferry over to the Bitter End Yacht Club and Resort on Virgin Gorda. Five chefs from various resorts in the BVI cooked at individual stations and it was a gourmet extravaganza.
Don’t know the final result for our wine
but we should soon since I mentioned that I had brought down an ’05
so we can do a vertical with the high bidder.”

Can we all say “Jealous”?

The catamaran the Bushman’s were invited to sail away in….and chose to keep our day jobs instead.
Can you all call us “stoopid”?

Willy T’s is a “favorite offshore bar”.
You can always use anything I send to you
although some my not be all that appropriate for general consumption–
but YOU have to live with that choice.”

Gary Warburton, a winemaker in Manhattan Beach that taught me how to bottle, is Shane Pavitt’s father.  Shane and Suzanne Phifer Pavitt own Phifer Pavitt winery in Napa, home of the Date Night Cabernet that was highlighted earlier this week for a contest they are currently running.  I’ve had wines from both generations.  And I think….I’m one lucky wine 101er!
