Rusty Sly: Vino 100 and Fish Tail

My thoughts and feelings about trying unique wines is equal to my interest in trying new restaurants. I especially enjoy the smaller more unique one of a kind restaurants that you find from time to time.

Today I dropped by Vino 100 to see what delectable spirits they had in their many wine racks.  Sarah, who was running the shop while the owners were on vacation, greeted me and, as is typical, we were soon discussing the various wines that the shop had to offer.

Sarah explained that the shop owners strive to find limited small allocation wines for their customers.  This is great as it opens your eyes to what is available based on palate not the label.

After discussing wines and the Vino 100 shop I asked about the new seafood restaurant next door, Fish Tail.  She told me that the food was great and they were best known for their fish and chips and Chilean sea bass.

As I walked out the door I noticed the crowd and realized that it was lunch time and decided to give them a try.  This is a very small restaurant with limited seating.  I found a place at the bar and ordered their fish and chips.  They have a wide range of fish and sea food entrees to offer along with traditional items such as Kimchi, Edamame and clam miso soup. They also have fried and grilled fish dishes as well as mussels.  This is a fish lovers paradise and everyone there seemed to love the food.  As for those of you that do not like sushi, don’t worry, all of the dishes I saw were cooked.

Then to add further enticement I found out that they have teamed up with Vino 100.  Here’s the deal: You can buy a bottle of wine from Vino 100 and take it over to Fish Tail with the receipt.  They will waive the corkage fee and even give you a complimentary appetizer.  Sarah also told me that you can bring the food over to Vino 100 and enjoy a glass or bottle of wine if you would rather enjoy eating in the ambiance of a wine shop where it is a little quieter with music playin in the background.

For me, this was a great find as I love sea food and with the ability to buy and enjoy a selected wine it was spectacular.

Cheers,
Rusty Sly
