Holiday Tasting: Trade Tasting for Valencia Wine Company Guests

Six years of exceptional Holiday Wine Tasting events havebeen brought to you by the same wine bar that recently celebrated its eighthbirthday – with a wild party that included balloons, cake and live music:Valencia Wine Company.

This decidedly different type of event, on November 14 atthe Tournament Players Club (TPC) in Valencia, will definitely entertain, butwill also prove to educate both those new to wine and the “vinophiles” – a madeup term meaning “a person with a fondness for wine”.
No less than one hundred wines – from wine regions all overthe globe – await to please our palates. Paired with wine representatives, and winemakers, there for the solepurpose of answering your questions about their wines.  Not just servers; but educators aswell.
The only difference between this and an event held for themedia and wine trade is that it is not a “self-pour” format – but generous justthe same.  It’s private, exclusive, professionally done, and educational.
What to expect? Last year we had a Sake Sommelier that brought his own sushi along topair several different styles of Sake most people were unfamiliar with, fromfruit-sweet to bone dry.
That same year we had clay pot wines from the Republic ofGeorgia – formerly of the Soviet Union not of the Confederacy – that wereinteresting for many guests that had never had an opportunity to taste what awine stored in clay pots tastes like. This is how wine was made in the beginning of wine making, and averitable trip through history.
Of course there are always plenty of tables with the bestexamples of the best French wine –Valencia Wine company is known for theirselection of French varietals – followed closely by the best wines from ourvery own California wine growing regions. This year I will be looking for examples of both new world wines –Australia, Chile, Argentina and South Africa – as well as old world wines – France,Spain, Germany and Italy.
There will sure to be some new wineries represented thisyear as Guy Lelarge, owner of Valencia Wine company, promises both surpriseguests and surprise winemakers.
The venue, The Oaks Grille inside TPC’s country club, willbe resplendent with appetizers, cheeses and desserts paired by Chef DanielOtto, and, of course, the expansive view just outside their glass Frenchdoors.  Many guests, whetherthey’ve had their “fill” or just want to take a break – as this is a ticketlesstasting and guests are welcome to sample as they wish – relax by the fire pitor at one of the many welcoming lounge chairs to view a setting sun or golfersdotting the landscape.
There is special pricing available, only at the event, forthat perfect wine – or wines –  that strikes your palate in remarkable ways, so be sure and takeadvantage of it!  November 14, 1-5p.m., $70 per person.  Call fortickets: 661-254-9300 wine@valenciawine.com

  1. Was this the event that you and Guy and I were discussing me pouring for him? Sounds like fun.

  2. I don't think so. He has winemakers and reps pouring. Usually his staff attends. Bet he would like you and JD to attend as well. If you've not been to the TPC Country Club, it is our best venue…

He should be back from Vegas today and I'll be seeing him sometime this week so I will double check.

  3. Then I think you should call Guy. Maybe you can do something to trade for services as a wine educator, at this event or another event?
