As the owner of the longest running wine bar and retail shop in town, Guy Lelarge continues to take it up a notch. He recently announced that he has selected Amazon to run their international wine club (see press release below), Chef Sam Stills Francois – formerly of TPC’s The Oaks Grille – will be partnering with him for intimate dinners in the bar, the return of “Wednesdays with Guy”, weekly wine tips on YouTube and educational classes resuming on Saturday afternoons.
In order, here is the news release:
Wine Dinners: For years Guy has done some pretty killer wine dinners at Maru, Salt Creek Grille and the Oaks Grille, to name a few. Now, in his latest brainstorm, he is working with Chef Samson in bringing fine cuisine into the wine bar. To pair with the food he will invite select winemakers or winery owners only to represent their wines. A maximum of 40 guests will be seated in an intimate setting complete with soft lighting and soft tablecloths. And the bar will be closed to the public during the dinners.
Wednesday Nights with Guy: I’ve lost hubby to this more than once though women are more than welcome. Guy would usually open the first bottle, and then others would follow suit. New to the night though, Guy will offer 15% off all bottles opened that night AND 15 % off all bottles purchased. The idea of having a Guru at my wine table has always been a plus. He knows when a wine is corked, answers all the questions your dying to ask, and, he’s entertaining to boot.
Guy said, “I like the idea of creating a group, exchanging opinions, camaraderie and building friendships.”
Saturday Classes: Guy will be teaching wine education, with wine tasting, on select Saturday afternoons. I’m a firm believer in learning from someone with wine knowledge. Guy doesn’t just “like” a wine to serve it in his classes, his wine education allows him to dissect a wine and explain it to us.
Weekly Wine Tips: Guy just started making these videos two weeks ago – very funny! Check out their YouTube page HERE.
