Los Angeles Chef Transitions to the Central Coast to Work with Nichols Brothers

LOS OLIVOS, California; May 2, 2011 – Brothers Matt and Jeff Nichols, Owners and Chefs of Brothers Restaurant at Mattei’s Tavern, announce the arrival of Seth Nelson as the new Chef de Cuisine of this landmark restaurant in the Santa Ynez Valley of the California Central Coast.

Nelson, a graduate of the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles, has worked under some of the most respected chefs in Los Angeles.  He served as Executive Sous Chef for Celebrity Chef Kerry Simon at Simon L.A. for two years prior to joining Brothers.  His earlier experience includes positions working under the tutelage of some impressive talents, including Conny Anderson at BLVD at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel; Josiah Citrin of Melisse; and Joe Miller of Joe’s Restaurant’s catering division, Upstairs2 Catering.

Eager to find a location where he both could build his reputation and raise his family, Nelson became enthralled with the idea of making the move north to Los Olivos to work with the Nichols Brothers.  Nelson’s try-out – a tasting dinner at Brothers for the chefs to experience and evaluate the foods he could create, assured Matt and Jeff Nichols that the young chef would be a perfect fit for this family-run restaurant.
