Introducing A Glamorous Italian Getaway in a Glass: MARTINI® Moscato d’Asti (Recipes below post)

Iconic Italian winemaker debuts addition to wine portfolio just in time for chic summer sipping Al Mare

This summer MARTINI, the most iconic name in Italian winemaking, expands its portfolio with another first class wine: MARTINI Moscato d’Asti.  Joining the immensely popular sparkling trio, including naturally sweet Asti – the number-one selling imported sparkling wine in the United States – a bright and flirty Rosé and a crisp Prosecco, MARTINI Moscato d’Asti is a refreshing Italian wine to quench your thirst in the upcoming summer months.  Uncork a bottle of MARTINI Moscato d’Asti for your next al mare moment and let this get-away in a glass whisk you away to the luxurious Italian Riviera or the tropical isle of Capri.  No passport necessary.

MARTINI Moscato d’Asti emerges as the premium choice for chic summer sipping.  Franco Brezza, MARTINI’s sparkling wine maker and native Italian, has developed a strong passion and heartfelt commitment to the brand.  Brezza notes: “MARTINI Moscato d’Asti is synonymous with the outstanding reputation of all MARTINI products.  The wine is easily identified for its superior taste and premium quality because it is crafted from 100% handpicked Moscato bianco grapes.  It delivers a velvety texture balanced by the most subtle touch of effervescence found only in premium imported Moscato wines.”

Additionally, MARTINI Moscato d’Asti reflects a noteworthy exclusivity from its D.O.C.G. classification (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, the highest quality designation given to only the top 1% of Italian wines).  The result: MARTINI Moscato d’Asti releases a beautifully aromatic nose and ripe fruit forward flavors on the palate.

Undeniably, the Moscato category is making a splash in the United States. According to Nielsen off-premises survey data for the 52 weeks ending October 16, 2010, Moscato wines sales soared by 91.4 percent by dollar value compared with 4.9 percent overall market growth.[i]  Wine writer Liza B. Zimmerman, of the popular wine magazine Wine Business Monthly, discusses these findings in the March 2011 issue. She describes Moscato as “the next big thing in wine.” [ii].  Other notable wine writers have recently commented on the growing Moscato trend including Wall Street Journal wine critic, Lettie Teague noting “Suddenly, everywhere that I go, everyone seems to be talking about [it]… With Moscato d’Asti’s such as these, I’m all for the Asti-ization of, not just America, but the world.”[iii]

Rounding out the brand’s wine repertoire, fully experience the vibrant taste and beaming straw color of MARTINI Moscato d’Asti by serving well-chilled and over ice.  Complete a glamorous summertime escape by pairing the wine with decadent treats from Turin, Italy, the home of MARTINI. Italian delights like rich pralines or creamy gorgonzola cheese will satiate your appetite when coupled with MARTINI Moscato d’Asti’s delicate sweetness and floral aroma.

For a refreshing cocktail alternative, mix MARTINI Moscato d’Asti with GREY GOOSE® vodka for the MARTINI Moscatini Cocktail or MARTINI® Dolce La Poire (see recipes below).  MARTINI Global Brand Ambassador Giuseppe Gallo (a cocktail enthusiast and specialist) suggests a MARTINI Moscato d’Asti Float for a light summer dessert with a touch of tartness.  Giuseppe says, “Simply add a scoop of lemon or raspberry sorbet to a flute or wine glass and top with MARTINI Moscato d’Asti.

This easy combination transports me to the cobalt Italian coast – it is ideal if you’re fantasizing about a tropical getaway.”

Whether you are at a poolside cabana or lounging on the beach, a glass of MARTINI Moscato d’Asti is your perfect party accessory and ultimate summer escape.  MARTINI Moscato d’Asti will be available at fine wine retailers nationwide.
