FOUR‐DAY EPICUREAN EXTRAVAGANZA IN THE LEGENDARY NAPA VALLEY

NET PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND AT THE CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA AT GREYSTONE

Tickets for Flavor! Napa Valley are on sale, offering up a stellar lineup of chefs, vintners and sommeliers presiding over dinners, seminars and tastings throughout the inaugural four‐day festival, being held November 17–20, 2011 in the legendary Napa Valley. With a wide variety of incredible gastronomic events situated at Founding Sponsor Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, and The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Greystone in St. Helena, Flavor! Napa Valley offers something for every fan of world‐class food, wine and fun. Net proceeds from the event will support programs and scholarships at the CIA’s Greystone Campus.

Events include up-close and personal cooking classes and demonstration with celebrity chefs Michael Chiarello of Bottega, Thomas Keller of the French Laundry, Christopher Kostow from the Restaurant at Meadowood, and a once‐in-a-lifetime gala dinner prepared by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto of Morimoto Napa, CIA alum and Food Network personality Scott Conant from Scarpetta restaurants in NY, Miami, Beverly Hills, Toronto, and Las Vegas, Jeffrey Jake from Silverado Resort and Spa, and Cindy Pawlcyn, who helped define wine country cuisine with her trio of Napa Valley restaurants Mustards Grill, Go Fish and Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen.

The ultimate wine & food pairing event of them all, the Napa Valley Appellation Trail Tasting will feature over 120 wineries from Carneros to Calistoga pouring their best examples from the individual appellations, paired with dishes created by the Valley’s most sought‐after chefs including Tyler Florence of Rotisserie and Wine, Ken Frank of La Toque, Brandon Sharp of Solbar at Solage, Robert Curry from Auberge du Soleil, Bob Hurley of Hurley’s Restaurant, Curtis DiFede and Tyler Rodde of Oenotri, and Stephen Barber from Fish Story.

For anyone thinking that wine will take second stage, think again as master sommeliers and wine experts including Karen MacNeil, Andrea Robinson, Fred Dame and FOOD & WINE’s Executive Wine Editor Ray Isle will take tasters through some of the Valley’s most iconic wines. In addition, a “curated” wine dinner with many of the Napa Valley’s most prominent winemakers will guide you through the exquisite food pairings at the “Dinner with the Napa Valley Winemakers.”

And to close the weekend, a Terroir‐to-Table Brunch hosted by Steve Carlin, a master of the eat-local movement and founder and managing partner of Downtown Napa’s Oxbow Public Market will showcase the heroes of the area’s food scene – the growers and artisanal producers who supply the Valley’s restaurants with the organic and sustainable raw ingredients that are at the core of its quality. Chef Todd Humphries of Kitchen Door at Oxbow Public Market will lead a talented lineup of chefs to create a menu showcasing the country-lane freshness of the Napa Valley and surrounding areas.

Individual event tickets range from $95 To $250, with most events ticketed at the $95 level. Special Flavor! Napa Valley festival packages including entry into many of the events during the four-day festival are available at two levels, $475 and $750. Tickets for many of the up-close and personal culinary classes and demonstrations are limited, and are available through the Flavor! Napa Valley Website at www.flavornapavalley.com.

  1. This four-day event should be an absolute blast and I it’s a great thing that the proceeds will go to the CIA at Greystone.
