Ventura County Wine Trail: Local food and wine challenge 2012

12 Restaurants, 12 Wineries, 1 Winner!

Join us for a culinary competition spectacular that will determine the BEST Food & Wine Pairing in Ventura County!

This January, the Ventura County Wine Trail is putting a new spin on food and wine shows by introducing the Local Food & Wine Challenge. Twelve teams of local wineries and restaurants will match up to see who can create the best wine and food pairing in Ventura County! This culinary concert will be judged by three local food commentators: Lisa McKinnon, Ventura County Star; Lynne Andujar, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of 805 Living magazine; Tom Hilton and Sandy Seekins, Tom & Sandy’s 805. Held in the Crowne Plaza’s Top of the Harbor, it is sure to be an evening of amazing flavors and beautiful views.

The evening will begin with a champagne reception. From there, guests sample the areas finest wines and cuisine in 24+ food and wine pairings! Each winery / restaurant team will be judged on the synergy, presentation and overall experience of their pairing.

The first annual Local Food & Wine Challenge will take place January 19, 2012, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach. This event is open to public, though seating is limited. Pre-sale tickets are available for $45.00 on the Ventura County Wine Trail website (www.VenturaCountyWineTrail.com) and at the door for $55.00. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Ventura County FOOD SHARE, a food bank that houses and distributes millions of pounds of food each year to the hungry of Ventura County.
