THE FAMILY WINEMAKERS OF CALIFORNIA ANNOUNCES SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DATES FOR ANNUAL “TASTING 2012” EVENT

Southern California’s Most Comprehensive Wine Tasting Event Returns On Sunday, March 11, to San Diego and Tuesday, March 13, to Pasadena, Sacramento, CA (December 12, 2011) – Family Winemakers of California, an association of family-owned wineries in California, is proud to announce dates for 2012’s upcoming tasting events in Southern California. The tasting will return to the Exhibit Hall at San Diego’s Del Mar Fairgrounds on Sunday, March 11, and the Pasadena Convention Center on Tuesday, March 13. The event brings together over 200 small production, family-owned wineries from all over California representing more than 800 different wines, said Paul Kronenberg, president of the Family Winemakers of California.

“‘Tasting 2012’ is a wine-tasting event unlike any other,” added Kronenberg. “As an event that was once only open to the buying trade, wine enthusiasts have the unique opportunity to taste California wines from a myriad of wineries across the state, meet the winemakers and winery-owners themselves and open their eyes to new wines that they may not get to try anywhere else.”

The event opens to the general public from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 11. Trade hours take place from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, giving qualified members of the wine-buying trade exclusive access during the event’s opening hours. Early bird ticket pricing for consumers is available through February 20 for $45 per ticket. After February 20, ticket prices are $55 in advance and $65 the day of the event. For those who would like to get a head start at the tasting, trade segment admission for the general public is also available to the first 75 ticket buyers at $75 per ticket. Tickets go on sale January 20.

Qualified trade and media interested in attending the tasting may register online at www.familywinemakers.org beginning January 20. Admission for members of the trade and media is complimentary until March 2; trade may purchase tickets at the door at a special rate of $40.

FAMILY WINEMAKERS OF CALIFORNIA

Family Winemakers of California was established in 1991 in response to a need for public policy involvement for the small wine producers of California. The Association has become a strong force in the wine industry, lobbying for wine producer rights, and has an active membership of over 550 California wineries.

Family Winemakers draws its membership from all the wine producing areas of the state, with the largest concentration coming from Napa and Sonoma Counties.

Family Winemakers trade tastings, held in San Francisco since 1991 and in Southern California since 2000, are well known in the industry for the quantity and quality of the participating wineries. The tastings give members of the trade and public the opportunity to get to know wineries from all over the state, the well known and the unknown, and especially the small, all in one place at one time.
