Sommelier Gregory Alonzo: Georgian Wines and Spirits Score Big in Los Angeles

For the better part of a century, the Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition has exhibited an array of the finest domestic and international vintages. The annual wine-tasting event is widely considered among the most prestigious in the United States.

Every June, an esteemed panel of international judges is selected to conduct a blind tasting. In this way, and only this way, it is believed that the panel is able to maintain the highest levels of impartiality, integrity and professionalism. ThisĀ  year, 72 judges evaluated 3300 wines and several hundred spirits.

Topping the list of Georgian vintners at the Los Angeles event was Gorelli. Taking medals in 5 categories, Gorelli is quickly proving to be a leader in the wine industry of the Republic of Georgia.

    I opened the Saperavi that you gave me many years ago with my GOTN group. After storing for many years in my cellar it was spectacular.
