Los Angeles, California (15 May 2014) – Los Angeles Mission College Foundation announced its 12th Annual Springfest Cuisines Around the World, a Food & Wine Festival Fundraiser, to be held Saturday, May 31 2014, from 2pm-6pm at their Culinary Arts Building. Led by Chef Jesse Sanchez, Culinary Instructor and Certified Executive Chef, the award winning Culinary Arts Institute will prepare internationally inspired dishes, and a decadent Pastry Pavilion filled with sumptuous confections.
“What’s inspiring the students this year, is their own global melting pot and the foods they love or even grew up with,” says Chef Jesse Sanchez, Culinary Instructor and Certified Executive Chef. “Los Angeles is a cultural center of the universe, and this will be reflected in the kinds of dishes created for this year’s Springfest Cuisines of the World.”
New to this year’s event, is the wine tasting that will highlight meeting acclaimed Latino Winemaker, Don Felipe, from California’s Central Coast. Guests will have the rare opportunity to taste with him, the complete portfolio of his award winning Feliz Noche Wines including: 2006 Syrah (rated 91 points Wine Enthusiast) – 2009 Riesling – 2012 Rose of Grenache – 2012 Chardonnay – 2005 Grenache – 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon – 2007 Mi Pasion Red Blend – 2008 Pinot Noir – 2006 Syrah
“This fine wine and cuisine pairing will give guests a more exciting, enriching culinary experience at this year’s Springfest,” Chef Jesse Sanchez explains. “And Don Felipe, is much more than just an extraordinary winemaker. He’s worked the fields and expertly managed the vineyards his entire life, so he understands the land, giving him an unprecedented knowledge of California terroir. That passion is reflected in the quality of his wines.”
In addition to a food and wine experience, the Culinary Arts Building will be transformed into a decadent Mediterranean Holiday setting where guests can mingle with the festive, gregarious Romans. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment including the Latin Jazz of Tropical Brazilian Guitarist Jon Stephen with a special guest appearance by critically acclaimed Jazz Vocalist Lauren Koval. A Silent Auction will be conducted to raise funds for the Foundation.
LA Mission College Culinary Arts Building is located at 13356 Eldridge Avenue, Sylmar, CA 91342. Guests can purchase an all-inclusive ticket for a $65 Tax Deductible Donation and must be 18 years of age or older.
