Alex Guarachi, founder and CEO of TGIC Global Fine Wine Company, positions his company for growth by way of acquiring industry talent, rearranging distributor partnerships and developing new products.
With long standing success importing from acclaimed international producers, Guarachi anticipates that his latest moves will push sales up to one million cases in the next twenty four months. TGIC is already the number two importer of South American wine over $10 and imports the best wines from Argentina, Chile, Spain and Italy. TGIC’s prestigious supplier list includes Montes, Bodega Norton, Santa Ema, Kaiken, Pascual Toso and Castillo De Monseran.
To increase visibility and market presence for these brands, Guarachi attracted industry veterans to the TGIC team. Recent additions include: Eastern Division Sales Vice President Jerry LaVecchia, formerly at Stoli Group; Western Division Sales Vice President Craige Bennett, previously at Chalk Hill and Boisset Family Estates; Western Chain Manager Mike Cohoon, formerly at Rémy Cointreau and Treasury Wine Estates; Vice President of Marketing Philip Pyrce, previously of Treasury Wine Estates & Terlato Wines International.
In addition to this team of top talent, Guarachi anticipates further growth as a result of the recent completion of a twelve month project of realigning key distributor partnerships to focus on family run companies with regional strengths. Key distributor relationships include Young’s Market Company, Wirtz Beverage Group, Charmer- Sunbelt Group and RNDC.
TGIC has also expanded into premium winemaking, with meticulously developed luxury and accessibly-priced domestic US brands. In 2007, Guarachi launched Guarachi Family Wines, a luxury brand focused on two key varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. With Alex Guarachi as head winemaker, Guarachi Family Wines entered the market to industry acclaim, producing top quality varietal expressions by way of thorough management and usage of grapes from premiere lots and appellations. This year, TGIC also launched The Seducer and Nobilissima, respective blends of California reds and Italian Pinot Grigio, targeted at millennials and selling for under $15. (From WineBusiness.com)
