Since its opening in November 2014, solita Tacos & Margaritas Valencia has not only captivated diners with their sophisticated Mexican cuisine, but they have also perpetuated the culture of Baja, California and Mexico through service and style. Now, patrons will be pleased to know that those flavors and values have extended to a new Weekend Brunch Menu, set to debut this coming Saturday, March 21st, 2015!
Composed of six delectable dishes and sides, as well as eight refreshing cocktails, including shareable icy buckets of sparkling wine, sangria and beer, solita’s new Weekend Brunch Menu offers spicy dishes and tropical drinks that are perfect for weekend outings with family and friends.
“We set out to offer a vibrant and fun Weekend Brunch Menu that takes the same fresh approach to traditional Mexican cuisine and cocktails as our lunch and dinner menu,” says Partner and Director of Operations, Matt Baumayr. “This menu presents our guests with a unique, creative and flavorful new option for weekend brunch.”
The unique flavors and value are represented in every dish on the Weekend Brunch Menu, which are all under $12.00. An incomparable price only exceeded by the astounding cuisine itself, created and cooked up by Partner & Executive Chef Deborah Schneider. An advocate of the local farm to table movement and author of six best-selling cookbooks inspired by her first-hand travels through Mexico and the Baja Peninsula, Chef Schneider melds fresh ingredients with south-of-the-border street flavors.
“With solita, my Partners and I wanted to open a neighborhood restaurant that is reflective of what we loved most about our trips to Mexico,” says Chef Schneider. “These new weekend brunch dishes reflect the best of Baja-style cooking for breakfast.”
Those journeys through the southern peninsula are most evident in authentic dishes like the Huevos Rancheros with two corn tortillas, refried black beans, two eggs (fried or scrambled), ranchera salsa, melted cheese, avocado and cotixa cheese, as well as the Chilaquiles y Huevos with house made corn tortilla chips, onions, scrambled eggs, a mixture of cheeses, crema, pico de gallo and a choice of Chef Deb’s famous red or green salsa.
From light to hearty, there is the Fruit Plate With Greek Yogurt & Agave, an offering of mixed seasonal fruit, pineapple, mango, berries and agave syrup, as well as the Breakfast Burrito made of refried black beans, fluffy scrambled eggs, cheese and pico de gallo wrapped up in a warm red tortilla with the option of drizzling solita’s famous red or green sauce atop.
And for those who rise for bacon and eggs only, there is the El Guero with two eggs (fried or scrambled), three strips of bacon and a side of ketchup for dipping.
All of these enticing entrées are offered with a small side of Black or Pinto Beans, Spanish Rice or signature solita Slaw. Optional protein add-ons include favorites like Bacon, Chorizo, Carnitas, Roast or Grilled Chicken, Carne Asada, Red Chile Beef, Shrimp, Mushrooms and Chile Tofu.
The sweeter side of brunch comes in the form of the indulgent Berry Cinnamon Bread Pudding topped with brown sugar, fresh berries and Ceylon cinnamon, served with warm agave syrup, brown sugar sour cream sauce and a dollop of whipped cream.
For those who prefer liquid treats, Beverage Director Colin Pflugradt is serving up classic brunch favorites with spicy and vibrant twists. “It is not a proper brunch if you do not have a drink to toast with,” says Pflugradt. “Whether you want a traditional Mimosa or something a bit more dynamic, we only use the highest quality ingredients in all of our cocktails and house made juices.”
The juice may be what sets the “Mimosa Bar” apart at solita Tacos & Margaritas, offering a traditional Mimosa of sparkling wine and fresh orange juice (just $3.00!), as well as the colorful Rainbow Mimosa, a flute of sparkling wine with your favorite flavor (or color) juice, including Watermelon, Guava, Mango, Strawberry, Pomegranate or Pineapple.
Refreshing Sangria is served up two ways and a bit more intricate than your classic choice of red or white. Sparkling White Sangria, a mixture of Chardonnay and sparkling wine, is infused with house made hibiscus reduction and fruit juice, while the Frozen Red Sangria is a layering of signature solita Sangria over custom made frozen margarita mix. For those who prefer fire to ice, solita’s Bloody Mary kicks it up a notch with Chef Schneider’s spicy chile de arbol hot sauce.
For pairs, groups or singles who want to make friends, solita’s Bucket Service is an offering of shareable bottles on ice with fresh accompaniments, including the Mimosa Bucket and Rainbow Mimosa Bucket complete with a full bottle of sparkling wine and fresh juices on the side. Guests can also share an ice-chilled Beer Bucket of four beers, as well as solita’s Michelada Bucket, four beers with a carafe of house made Michelada mix with chile con limon rimmed glasses and juicy limes on the side.
With this variety of light, hearty, fiery and icy selections to choose from, solita’s new Weekend Brunch Menu offers something for everyone looking to catch-up over fresh dishes and drinks on the weekends. And while driving to Mexico may be a fun adventure, those looking to stay local can find a little bit of Baja right in their backyard at solita Tacos & Margaritas Valencia.
