Assistance League’s 8th Annual Sunset in the Vineyard fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 1 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the picturesque Compa Vineyard and homes of Jeannie, Chris and Tim Carpenter. Chairpersons Patricia Teichert and Cheryl Gray are looking forward to welcoming members of the community and promise an unforgettable afternoon celebrating our local “garagiste” and commercial artisans while helping Assistance League to increase its philanthropic efforts in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Many of our valley’s private vineyards and wine makers will be represented, along with De Robertis Family Artisan Cheeses, VNTBC Nano Brewery, Copperhill Brewery and Speakeasy Bakery. Guests will taste and savor wine, craft brews, cheeses, and breads directly from the artisans. Chef Cindy Schwanke and Michelle Razzano, along with their talented students from College of the Canyons Institute of Culinary Education will be making pizza from Tim’s wood-fired oven. While we are enjoying this lovely event music will be performed by Wheelhouse, featuring Steve Dole, Jeff and Melanie Meyer, Matt Lincoln and Warren George.

Our signature program, Operation School Bell supplies new clothing and shoes to students in need. We are proud to announce that this year we have been able to include the high schools and now serve all of the public schools in our valley. We are currently in the middle of our shopping event where we give the students, who are referred by school district personnel, a shopping spree at Old Navy and a gift card to Payless Shoes. Last year we were able to assist more than 2,600 students.

Assistance League Santa Clarita, organized in 1989 by local women, was chartered in 1993 and has grown to 147 members and 45 Assisteens. A chapter of National Assistance League, it is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian and IRS 501(c)(3) service organization. Funds raised from Sunset in the Vineyard benefit Assistance League programs exclusively in the Santa Clarita Valley.
