The One with the Philly Cheesesteak – Cooking Class w/Dave Lawrence Sat, May 21st, 2016

There are as many opinions on what makes a great Philly Cheesesteak as there are places to get them, but if you ask anyone from Philly (and I happen to know a few people), they will tell you a few unwavering truths: First, the roll matters. Not just any roll will do – it has to be an Amoroso’s Italian roll. Then there’s the steak – it’s got to be sliced really thin, so it cooks quickly, and it’s got to be flavorful, so we’re using a nicely marbled Ribeye. If you order it ‘Provolone wit,’ it means you want sweet, caramelized onions and plenty of melty provolone cheese, and I know that’s how you want it!

Before we get into cheesesteak nirvana, we’ll start things off with a refreshing pre-summer concoction of Hard Blueberry Lemonade. Fresh blueberries, fresh lemon juice and mint all muddled together and topped with a bit of fizz.

On the side, some crunchy Parmesan and Panko Crusted Potato Wedges. These hearty fries are the perfect foil to the cheesesteaks.

And for dessert, a recent trip to New Orleans and several pilgrimages to Café du Monde inspired an obsession for homemade Beignets, piled high with snowy powdered sugar. These are a lot easier to whip up than you may think and chances are, you probably have everything you need on hand to make them right now. Isn’t that a comforting thought?

Join David, Allen & Kate for cooking class on Saturday, May 21st from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in their kitchen off of Sand Canyon.

Reservations are mandatory, and location, address and directions will be emailed upon receipt of payment. Reservations must be received no later than Thursday, May 19th by 1:00 PM.
