Flavor First Intuitive Line of Wine Glassware Released in U.S. Market

January 9, 2021 by evebushman

St. Helena, California – For the first time ever, a line of glassware designed around the flavor of wine has been released to trade and consumers in the United States. The set of three glasses corresponds to three key flavor/styles found in wine: Crisp & Fresh™, Creamy & Silky™ and Bold & Powerful™, intuitively putting the power of glass selection in the hands of  wine consumers and  trade professionals.

Liberating and simple in premise, the Flavor First™ line of glassware was meticulously designed over three years by wine expert and lauded author Karen MacNeil in collaboration with Senior Vice President of Design and Creative Director, Paul Gebhardt of The Oneida® Group,  producer since 1880 of fine table and kitchenware to homes and restaurants worldwide.

Their idea was simple—design wine glasses around wine flavor, not around wine regions or wine varietals. Taking into consideration the architecture of the glass, the nature of the human palate, and the desire of consumers and food service professionals to simplify this complex subject, MacNeil and Gebhardt had an “aha” moment together at a wine training Karen conducted for The Oneida® Group. Why, they asked,  wasn’t there a stem that took the overthinking out of  glassware? Why not focus on the fundamental pleasure and flavor of wine itself?

Trials, tastings, iterations over time, and testing of 40 different design options yielded a simple solution. MacNeil stated, “As a writer and wine teacher who’s taught thousands of people how to taste and evaluate wine, I listen carefully to how people talk about wine and the words they use.  Most people are non-technical; they use ideas  such as ‘bold reds’ or ‘creamy chardonnays’ to describe what they like. In other words, they use flavor words.”

Always academic and thoughtful in her approach, Karen looked at 35 major grape varieties and realized that the glass diameter at the widest part of the glass had the greatest impact on the expression of the wines.  As she states, “Oxygen has a profound effect on wine. For each of our three glasses,  the widest part of the glass is at a different position.”

Gebhardt, said of the collaboration, “Karen and her team are amazing, and together we made the idea a reality. Along with flavor as a driver of form, I wanted to create a line that had as many back-of-the-house operational advantages as possible. The design needed to be easy to live with at home, as well as in a commercial operation, both of which are key audiences for our company.”

Importantly, the vessels were designed for daily life at the table, and as such are dishwasher safe. While each glass is endowed with a precision bowl shape and a thin rim typically reserved for glassware three times the price, the carefully calibrated  “pulled” stem and foot ensure that the glasses will endure through meals and explorations. All three stems are the same height, making a seamless presentation for a wine tasting or meal with different pairings and ease of storage. The glasses are American designed and made in Germany from lead-free crystal.

The core stems include (all sold at retail in sets of four and six):
Crisp & Fresh™ for champagne, prosecco, sparkling wine, sauvignon blanc, riesling, and pinot grigio plus light rosés and all wines with a fresh, bright quality

Creamy & Silky™ for  chardonnay, chenin blanc, pinot gris plus richer rosé wines and pinot noir, chianti, shiraz and all wines with a round, silky texture

Bold & Powerful™ for very full bodied, oaky chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, Bordeaux, zinfandel, malbec, Barolo, syrah and all wines that feature a bold texture and firm structural backbone

Petite Stem:  Designed for more casual gatherings, a next generation version of the stemless glass but, importantly, with a foot to allow for swirling and easier handling.  It’s also great for beer, iced tea, and select cocktails such as a classic Gin & Tonic.

Available for sale in sets of four and six or as a variety set of six with two stems of each, the glasses are available at a number of retailers such as Amazon, wine.com, Macy’s, Dillard’s, TheBay.com (Canada)  and  are also available at Oneida.com and KarenMacNeil.com.   Priced at $74.99 per set of six, the per stem price averages $12.50, extremely affordable when compared to other similar quality wine glasses on the market today.

Vintage Eve Circa 12/2016: Miles and Jack are Back in Vertical, Passion and Pinot on the Oregon Wine Trail

December 3, 2019 by evebushman

The first thing and last thing I got from this revised second volume of Vertical from author Rex Pickett: Miles is almost completely redeemed from the character he played in Sideways. Maybe not his BFF Jack, but Miles definitely is more likable his second time around.

Photo: Oregon Wine Press

Doesn’t hurt that these two are on a new heavily wine laden road trip again either. Or that the same amount of humor is poured, into our upturned wine glasses, in large amounts as well. It’s definitely a Sideways Part Two.

How is Miles redeemed?

First, there is less gratuitous sex within the first pages in this new edition (sorry guys), Miles’ wheelchair-bound stroke-addled mother is on the road trip with them and he also does all he can to save her dog after an accident.

Not to give everything away, but, if you can believe it, there are real gestures toward an attempt to quell Miles’ now-open addiction to alcohol.

But, don’t fret, comedic relief is throughout: there is a recreation of the spit bucket scene from the movie, a stab at Santa Clarita wine fests, light hearted illustrations, Jack’s Viagra overload (can’t wait to see his “Priapism” surgery on film) and someone gets dunked twice – into a vat of wine and more!

It’s all tied up quite neatly between both books, Sideways and Vertical, with explanations as to Maya’s departure as well as Jack’s wife, wine tasting on the road again with with stops at Foxen, Justin and finally Oregon’s Willamette Valley where every guest manages to get “plowed on Pinot.”

As we follow Miles in his second-book journey we can see how he was affected by the success of his first book, referred to as “Shameless”, and the even wider success of the film made from the book.

It becomes very believable that women would throw themselves at successful writer Miles/Rex, he would be paid well for appearances and speeches, and be under a great deal of pressure to produce more books for a wine-craving culture.

After the movie Sideways we may have had seen some mild success with the movie Bottleshock, and a little bit of sommelier mystique may have been revealed in SOMM, but nothing has yet to touch the success of Sideways.

I, for one, am hoping that it will be Vertical The Movie.

Vintage Eve 7/2015: Judging The Long Beach Grand Cru

September 18, 2018 by evebushman

I was a little fretful…panicked is actually the right word, about judging the Long Beach Grand Cru for two days after only serving as a guest judge in the LA Wine Competition two years ago…once. I recognized the names of some of the judges, and personally knew quite a few, but I thought I better up my game and do some research.

I read Factors Considered in Wine Evaluation by Alexis Hartung (printed in the Winter Issue, 1999 AWS Journal Volume 31, No. 4 found online: http://www.bjcp.org/mead/Factors_Wine_Eval.pdf) and then I was also lucky enough to find the actual Judging Process that the Long Beach Grand Cru uses on their website. (It turned out that I was ready, even before doing the review work.)

Shenanigans?

There were no shenanigans during the judging process, but it WAS fun. All those numbered wine glasses crowding around me waiting to be swirled, sniffed, tasted and spat was also accompanied by the appropriate items to cleanse any palate: green olives, sliced gray beef, water crackers and waxy no-flavor cheese. (Good thing our meals were fully flavored!)

Panel l to r - David Stevens, Joe Hart, Stephen Young and Mike Stepanovich

Panel l to r – David Stevens, Joe Hart, Stephen Young and Mike Stepanovich

The panel I was assigned to was led by David Stevens (Senior Wine Consultant, Davon International), and included Joe Hart (Hart Winery), Mike Stepanovich (Wine Journalist, Bakersfield, CA.) and Stephen H. Young (graduate of the American Wine Society Wine Judge Certification Program).

These knowledgeable gentleman, and the wine, made my nervousness fall away pretty quickly. Soon we were moving at a good pace. At the end of each round we discussed our findings and came to a consensus if a wine received no medal, bronze, silver or gold.

There was so much thought and consideration in awarding each medal if made me pause, how often do you pause and consider buying a wine based on a medal? As much as you do a wine with a high numerical score? You are doing wineries a disservice to only consider one ranking body, in my now-educated opinion.

Each panel, there were 26 judges in all, had nearly 100 wines to judge on the first day, about half that they second, and finally did a round of sweepstakes “sweeps” to determine which of the Gold medals were all-around favorites of all the judges. Many of the entries and winners came from small producers outside of California.

There was a distinct level of camaraderie amongst the judges as some had been doing the Long Beach Grand Cru competition for 20+ years. It was an honor to join them that I hope to repeat annually.

Dinner, More Wine, and the Point of it All

Day one closed with a wonderful dinner and unlimited wine tasting (wines from the day and more) at Parker’s Lighthouse. Our private room was full and during the first hour or so many of the judges, Long Beach Grand Cru Board of Director members and volunteers spilled out into the patio for a view of the Queen Mary.

It was then that a tall gentleman wearing a cowboy slipped a bottled of wine from Stolpman Vineyards onto the tasting table. It took me about a nanosecond to figure out who that was. Tom Stolpman is also on the Board of Directors. A second after that I learned that he met fellow board member, James McAdams, in law school in the 70s and the two practiced in the same Long Beach firm.

Executive Producer Kim Vu welcomed the diners and introduced organizer Magdalena “Maggie” Davis, who in turn thanked the volunteers. Judge and local SCV sommelier, George Skorka then stood up to say “(he received) dignity and kindness from volunteers, my life is better because we spend two days here.”

“An amazing crew has done this for 21 years and the Board of Directors of the Grand Cru thanks you,” Executive Director, Silvia Arqueta said. “All of the money made from the event goes to the legal aid of Long Beach and the lawyers that dedicate themselves to poverty law. Long Beach has the second highest number of children living in poverty and they work to lower that number every year.”

Tom Stolpman commented that we need to reach out and help others by serving in city council, etc., as that helps the common good and that equals legal aid. “At the end of the day the message of tonight is that we all walk out of here thinking that we are doing better and maybe not enough. Thank you for feeling that.” It was a sobering thought.

East Tennessee’s Newest Tourism Trail Offers Wine and Ciders Mixed with Adventure

November 12, 2017 by evebushman

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS, Tenn. (PRWEB) – A brand new wine and cider trail has opened this fall in Nine Lakes Wine Country of East Tennessee, skirting along 100 miles of the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Slide-Page-Award-winning-wines-and-ciders-1800x920Where nature and wine entwine, Foothills Wine & Cider Trail features fun and adventure along the way. Visitors can take a walk on America’s longest swinging bridge or soar down the highest zip line in the Smokies at Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park, home of Wyile Cider Barn. Or experience the peaceful side of the Smokies as you visit Tuckaleechee Caverns or travel the Cherohala Skyway Scenic Byway. You may want to schedule a couple of days for this great wine and cider trail.

“Just in time to view the beautiful fall leaves, enjoy a trip on the brand new Foothills Wine & Cider Trail. It offers an unmatched view of the Great Smoky Mountains, adventure fun in Sevierville, and of course, delicious Tennessee wines and ciders,” said James R. Riddle, president of the Appalachian Region Wine Producers, which established the trail.

Four wineries and one cider mill have joined together for the cooperative tourism attraction. Participants who visit all five establishments will receive a commemorative wine trail glass, and be entered to win quarterly prizes.

To kick off its opening, Foothills Wine & Cider Trail is offering a Wine Adventure Giveaway, a package of prizes that involve area attractions as well as the trail. The package includes two zip-line passes to Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park, near Wyile Cider Barn in Sevierville, two splash passes from River Rat Rafting Company, which runs whitewater rafting in Hartford near the Pigeon River Winery, and a tubing venue near Cades Cove Winery in Townsend, a $50 Gift Certificate to Flap Jacks, near Mill Bridge Winery in Pigeon Forge, and two passes to The Lost Sea, an underground cavern near Tsali Notch Vineyard in Madisonville, TN.

Read more about the giveaway at http://www.FoothillsWineandCiderTrail.com.

“These gifts are really designed to get folks out on Foothills Wine & Cider Trail, and to give them a taste of all that East Tennessee offers for vacations. This is a wonderful place for friends and family to get away, enjoy all the natural beauty of East Tennessee, but also taste some award-winning wines and ciders,” said J.D. Dalton, manager of Tsali Notch Vineyard.

This trail features some of Tennessee’s most awarded wines. Tsali Notch Vineyard’s Hiwassee wine, a dry Muscadine varietal, has won more awards than any other Tennessee wine, including gold and silver medals from the San Francisco Chronicle’s Wine Competition.

The Appalachian Region Wine Producers Association’s mission is to grow the wine industry in East Tennessee. The association was the recipient of a U.S. Department of Agriculture Value Added Producer Grant in 2016. The association has established two wine trails, hosted the first Nine Lakes Wine Festival in May 2017, and has begun the process of establishing East Tennessee’s first American Viticultural Area (AVA).

An AVA is an official grape growing region designated by the US government, and would help establish an identity for Tennessee wines. For more information about Tennessee wines, visit http://www.ninelakeswinecountry.com

Vintage Eve Circa 2/14: Kym’s Kreations, Wine in Art

September 12, 2017 by evebushman

I’m sure the first time I was drawn to Kym and Ron Cappi was at a local wine event. We shared mutual friends and mutual interests, and they’ve since been to my home for dinner and my husband sees Dr. Ron Cappi for his chiropractic needs.

5

But this article isn’t about our friends or whatever ails my husband. It’s about me finding out that Kym is an artist.

It happened like this: Ron flew past me in his silver sports car on a road to Leona Valley Winery one afternoon. It was maybe the second time I had met them, and once I caught up to them at the winery I noticed something there that Kym had created. It was a cute little hand-painted dog bed made from a wooden wine box for the pooch that resided at the winery. (I wish I had room to put up all of Kym’s Kreations. Follow this hyperlink to see MORE: http://www.kymskreations.net/gallery.html )

Fast-forward a few wine-filled years and I’ve learned that my new pal has a painting business here in Santa Clarita. And she’s been very busy…but she took the time to do one of my 5-question Beacon interviews:

Eve: I’ve included your bio from your website (below) but what else do you want Beacon readers to know about you and your work? I found this on your Facebook and thought that what you wrote was an incredible testament to your compassion:

When buying from an artist, you’re buying more than just an object or painting. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks and months of frustration and moments of PURE JOY. You aren’t just buying a thing. You’re buying a piece of my heart, part of my soul, a moment of my life. MOST importantly, you’re buying the artist more time to do something they are passionate about.

Kym: The above quote is from an unknown author that epitomizes my feeling about art and the creative process. My motto is “art from the heart…where passion meets paintbrush!”

Eve: Okay, for our readers, our very wine-y readers, besides canvases, cheer boxes, furniture refinishing, pet portraits and murals, what wine-themed items have you made?

Kym: First and foremost the personalized wine staves which are the mainstay of my “uncorked” line. I have also created custom hand painted wine and martini glasses. I created signs with hand painted wine quotes such as “I’m aging like a fine wine…I’m getting complex and fruity”, or my favorite for you is “I only drink wine on days that end in ‘Y’”. I can also paint custom wine carriers and cases.

Eve: The hand-painted barrel staves, your latest “Kreation”, are very popular! Have you got some positive feedback from your customers that you would like to share with readers?

Kym: Realtors are ordering them for their buyer’s new homes with an “established” date.

C.S send me a note saying, “ Can’t tell you how many comments we get from friends and family and how great they look!”

A.C. wrote “Bought one for a friend who had just bought a home, the owner who gave me ideas and Kym hit the nail on the head.”

Over the holidays one of my wine quote staves was the last give “stolen” at one of those gift exchanges, which I took as a great compliment since there were 20 other wonderful gifts they could have chosen from.

I have painted staves for wineries, also scotch drinkers and for home wine bars and cellars.

Eve: Is there a connection between your love of art and your love of wine?

Kym: I think there is definitely a connection between my love of art and my love of wine. As a fine vintner must put passion and care into every bottle and glass, I must do the same with my art. A winemaker must pick the right parcel of land for his vineyard, must walk the vineyard, inspect and pick the very best vines and grapes for the wine, and that is just the beginning of the process. As with art, I must listen to my clients find out what type of mural or art they desire, and make their words and ideas into a mural, canvas or stave. As the vintner takes the grapes and works them into wine, I take the desires and ideas of my clients and work them into the finished product.

Eve: Where do you and Ron like to go, both locally and in wine country, for wine? Are there any places that you visit that also share a love of art?

Kym: As far as local wineries we love going to Malibu, which is an emerging wine market. Cielo and Malibu family wineries are our favorites. We also enjoy Santa Ynez, Los Olivos and Santa Maria on a regular basis. Paso Robles wine country and Napa get a visit at least once a year as well.

As far as places with art and wine, Artesa in Napa has a fantastic collection of art that you can tour while tasting, and the winery is fantastic. Del Dotto’s newest location in Napa has some wonderful pieces as well. There are many fabulous art collections in Napa.

From the Website

Kym’s KreationsTM is a decorative painting and mural business based in Santa Clarita, California run by Artist Kym Cappi.

Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” As a child, painting was my life. At age 5, bored with plain white walls, I decided to paint on those walls. My mother was furious at the time, but with encouragement and paper to paint on, I found my calling. I took every art class available to me in school and with some entrepreneurial spirit, I ventured out to paint storefront windows for the holidays. Sign painting, graphic design and tole painting classes helped me to further my business by offering clients stylish and hand painted items thus, Kym’s Kreations was born.

I create decorative illusions with paint for residential and commercial clients. I have a wide range of training and experience that allow me the ability to implement a variety of mural projects regardless of scale and subject matter. Artistically experimenting with many different mediums over the years has given me knowledge and skill, which is executed in my work. My murals have been featured on “HGTV”, in Santa Clarita’s local paper “The Signal”, and “Inside SCV Magazine”. I’m honored to have been voted “Best of 2007” by Santa Clarita Living Magazine.

Call me for a complimentary consultation. I’ll meet you at the commercial site or residence, evaluate the project, take measurements and pictures, etc. I’ll come up with an estimate complete with sketches for your approval. Prices vary according to size, subject matter and detail.

“Life’s too short to live with plain, white walls!”

Tasting with Emilien Boutillat, Winemaker of Champagne Armand de Brignac and the “Best Blanc de Noirs in the World”

May 5, 2017 by evebushman

What a rare treat it was for me to sample the current releases from Champagne Armand de Brignac, aka “Ace of Spades”, that I had to admit I have never sampled before. This is how it went:

The Stage

The boardroom of the Beverly Hills Hotel was the perfect size for a small group of wine writers, wine store buyers, restauranteurs and sommeliers. The table was set with five engraved tasting glasses, courtesy Armand de Brignac. Winemaker Emilien Boutillat sat in the center. Five metallic bottles, each its own unique glistening color, sat icing in a golden bowl. The lighting was brought up so that we could examine our samples. French bottled water was poured to cleanse our palates. A brunch was set up on the side bar to enjoy after the tasting. Sparkling silver wine buckets would soon be – only slightly – filled with leftovers. But there weren’t many leftovers…

IMG_9648Tasting With Emilien Boutillat

Winemaker Emilien Boutillat grew up in Champagne and worked with some very prestigious wineries in Bordeaux, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, South Africa, New Zealand, Chile and California before settling back down in France. He works now with the lead winemaking team: Jean-Jacques and Alexandre Cattier.

Boutillat said that Armand de Brignac produces “just a drop” of Champagne compared to others; only producing about 100,000 cases of all of their cuvees combined per year. Everything, including the riddling, is done by hand. What matters most is the soil, climate, the right time for harvest, blending and – only using the first press of juice. They have purchased from the same growers – who are now friends – every year for many years. “There are no tricks,” Boutillat commented, “we let the fruit talk.” All of the cuvees are multi-vintages and blends.

Brut Gold

40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier

Multi-vintage: 2009, 2010 and 2012

The color of pale hay with aromas of green apple, pineapple, cheddar cheese and wet pebbles. On the mouth I got the same flavors, very bright fruit, with the additions of lemon and toast. 99 Eve pts.

Rosé

50% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier, 10% Chardonnay

Multi-vintage: 2009, 2010 and 2012

A beautiful color or rose gold with notes of strawberry, Luxardo cherry and a hint of licorice on the nose followed by flavors of strawberry, limeade, orange zest and a nice long finish. (This was made as a blend, not in the saignée method.) 99 Eve pts.

Blanc de Blancs

100% Chardonnay

Multi-vintage: 2009, 2010 and 2012

A very pale yellow in color, then a nose of ripe red delicious apple, roasted nuts, lemon-lime and white pepper. On the mouth I got pineapple, white peach, white tea and roasted nuts again. 100 Eve pts.

Blanc De Noirs Assemblage Two

100% Pinot Noir

Multi-vintage: 2008, 2009 and 2010

Pale gold in color and aromas of apricots, cream and yes…what everyone noted: peppermint. On the palate that same peppermint was apparent as well as apricot and peach. Also another incredibly long finish. Welcome to the U.S. my pretty friend! 100 Eve pts. (How could I disagree with Fine Champagne Magazine, and TastingBook.com, that named this the best Blanc De Noirs of the year in 2016?)

Demi Sec

40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier

Multi-vintage: 2009, 2010 and 2012

Straw in color, and a nose of fruit cocktail, cheese corn and Jasmine! In the mouth I was reminded of candied apple and cinnamon toast, and the fruit lingers for another long finish. 98 Eve pts.

About Armand de Brignac

“10th and 11th generation champagne growers, Jean-Jacques Cattier and his son, Alexandre, craft the prestige cuvées of Armand de Brignac. Their dream was to create a champagne of the most exceptional quality, that would represent the best of the best from the region, where their family have grown vines for more than 250 years. A group of just 14 highly skilled people touch a bottle of Champagne Armand de Brignac, from pressing the fruit, to the moment the bottles leave the cellars. Each step of the process is led by the human touch, from handpicking the grapes to polishing each bottle and hand-applying French pewter labels. Without the pressures of volume, the team behind Champagne Armand de Brignac focuses on each small detail, to ensure ultimate quality at every step.”

Vintage Eve Circa May 2013: “It’s Just Wine” Said the Client to the Consultant

May 2, 2017 by evebushman

When my associate/partner/friend Michael Perlis successfully got me to agree to take on consulting clients (yes it took awhile) my only concern was that I didn’t want to do any less wine writing.   So, instead, after every pitch we made was accepted, I gave up some of my non-wine writing gigs.

Screen Shot 2015-06-07 at 1.52.45 PMI knew that I had to give up something I didn’t need to do in order to do something that would be more profitable. Now the challenge would be, could we get our own clients to see things this way too?

It was obvious to us that anyone who wanted to hire a consultant needed some help. A client would tell us what they want accomplish, we would do a study of their business, and then come back with our proposal.

Some clients said yes to everything; they were not on the edge of losing their businesses, and we were only there to market a well-conceived plan. This has been the case with the wine fests we have assisted in marketing.

However, other businesses, such as wineries and restaurants, called us in for help that required them to give up something to do something new. Much like I did.

And we could also see that those companies, like a marriage on the verge of a break-up, waited a long time before calling in a counselor. And their immediate reaction to our proposals, well, they were like a knee jerk kick to our stomachs.

Our proposals (which is a timeline of changes we wanted to make before bringing in new customers) are made to help insure that a new customer would return. These clients had a habit of just checking off the items at the end of the proposal.

This is a very shortsighted way of “Give me the reward now and it’s enough.” And, if I can go back to the marriage counselor scenario: One visit with a counselor is going to straighten out years of a miss-managed marriage?

We think not. There is a difference in marketing and consulting; and the consulting has to come before the marketing. If that’s not what you are looking for, you are not looking for us.

If your model isn’t working – listen to what we are trying to do to change it. Whether it’s training a restaurant staff on wine service or changing a hard-sell approach in a winery, this is why you hire us to consult, then market.

Which brings me to the title of this column. One client, exasperated with me as I quoted negative Yelp reviews, wine pricing, management techniques and basic branding said, “It’s just wine.”

That three-word sentence really got me thinking.

If your business is wine know this: There are reasons, beyond common business logic, why people drink wine. We can’t even go total screw cap because of the “romance” of popping a cork. Wine drinkers are not like beer drinkers; give us a nice crystal glass to taste from. Don’t hold my bottle of wine between your thighs as you retrieve the cork.

Don’t open my bottle of wine behind the counter. Don’t serve yourself a sample of my wine unless I offer it to you.

And from there I’d add more: Don’t pitch me anything if I didn’t ask for it. If I said yes to a taste, that’s a taste. Wait for me to ask for more. No one wants to dine in a restaurant or taste at a wine bar where the staff has an agenda. If I wanted to buy a timeshare I wouldn’t sit in for the 90-minute or more sales pitch, I’d just buy it.

Play nice, don’t bad mouth other wineries or restaurants. Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties have done a lot to market their wine trails. Each winery is vested in return business and having each winery look good. And wine people like to “shop” at more than one winery when out for a day of tasting – these trails get that, and so should you if you want to see growth.

Michael, when I told him about this conversation said, “Our new slogan is IAATW. It’s All About The Wine.”

We aren’t selling cars. We are selling wine. Take a lesson from Clos Pepe winemaker Wes Hagen, “The perfect meal is 33 percent wine, 33 percent food and 33 percent company. I’d rather drink shitty wine with this group than the best wine in the world with a bunch of d—-.”

Yes, I could go on, but you’d have to pay us. And we don’t work with d—- either.
