Vinexpo Shanghai is Broadening its Range of Services And is Set For October 2020

August 10, 2020 by evebushman

The first Vinexpo Shanghai in 2019, which was unanimously acclaimed by all attendees, broke new ground and the same spirit will prevail at the second event due to take place from 21 to 23 October 2020. Vinexpo Shanghai is adapting to the current climate and devoting a dedicated area to producers who would like to participate but cannot leave their home country. This unprecedented solution will be limited to the first 100 registrants and has been geared to provide simplicity, quality and efficiency to participating producers with an ‘all-inclusive’ formula and targeted networking with buyers attending the exhibition.

The new area will dovetail perfectly with the range presented at the event by exhibitors from across the globe. Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Argentina, among other countries, will be well represented, alongside Chile, the country of honour at the 2020 exhibition. Chile will make its mark on the event through attendance by numerous estates and brands as well as a raft of top quality masterclasses aimed at Chinese buyers, confirming Vinexpo Shanghai’s international mission within the Chinese market.

Similarly, the Academy is reinventing itself and will be launching the e-Academy, with high-level content (masterclasses and conferences) rolled out during the exhibition but also relayed via Vinexpo’s digital ecosystem in China and around the world. The system will allow remote presentations by prominent international experts to be hosted – they will be transcribed during and at the exhibition.

“Once again and more than ever, we are adapting to this very uncertain climate. In these challenging times, Vinexpo continues to ramp up its business opportunities and bespoke solutions to support recovery of business worldwide. Vinexpo Shanghai 2020, with this new digital solution, will mark the beginning of the recovery”, stresses Vinexpo CEO Rodolphe Lameyse.

Prosecco DOC Consortium Announces Third Annual ‘National Prosecco Week’

July 9, 2020 by evebushman

NEW YORK (PRWEB) – The Prosecco DOC Consortium, the entity that oversees the production of the world’s most popular sparkling wine, is pleased to announce that ‘National Prosecco Week’ (NPW) will return for its third year from July 20-26, 2020.

To adapt to the impact of COVID-19, The Prosecco DOC Consortium has pivoted to support its multiple partners through a strategic combination of online activities to ensure the health and safety of Prosecco DOC consumers in the U.S. This celebration of Prosecco DOC will include nationwide digital retail promotions with a full digital media and marketing program, strategic media partnerships and influencer activations, such as Instagram Live tastings, virtual seminars, and e-commerce retail promotions. All activities will seek to educate media and consumers about Prosecco and showcase its ability to be enjoyed in a variety of occasions and with a wide range of cuisines.

While all wine sales have been impacted by on-premise closures, Prosecco is experiencing a boost; off-premise sales are up 39% YOY for the nine-week period ending May 2 and Wine.com reported a 503 percent increase in sales for Prosecco DOC wines. The U.S. is the world’s third-largest market for Prosecco, behind only Italy and the U.K. By the end of this year, Prosecco is expected to account for over half of all imported sparkling wine volume in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.

“Prosecco sales in the U.S. have been steadily growing since 2009 and looking at the data we can confidently say that if these figures keep on this trend, America will become our first export market” commented Stefano Zanette, President of the Prosecco DOC Consortium. “During these challenging times, the Consortium’s support in this year’s third annual National Prosecco Week is crucial and has prompted us more than ever to promote the Denomination in this key market with a creative approach.”

National Prosecco Week will be partnering with top wine trade media publications, SevenFifty and Wine Enthusiast to drive awareness to each of the participating Prosecco producers, as well as a robust promotional campaign with trade marketing agency 3×3.

“The Prosecco DOC Consortium plays an integral role in protecting the integrity of the appellation and deepening the understanding of Prosecco as a quality wine from a specific terroir,” said Enore Ceola, CEO of Freixenet Mionetto USA. “Now in its third year, it’s exciting to see how National Prosecco Week has grown in popularity among both the trade and consumers through its fun and approachable take on education, and Mionetto is proud to be a participant in this year’s activation.”

Prosecco DOC is now welcoming retailers to participate in this nationwide celebration by hosting promotions that encourage understanding and trial of Prosecco DOC. The following renowned Prosecco producers are participating in this year’s campaign, including Biancavigna, Genagricola, La Marca, Mionetto, Piera Martellozzo, Valdo, Santa Margherita, Val D’Oca, Villa Sandi, Zardetto and Zonin.

Participating retailer promotions can include educational seminars, virtual tastings, package inserts, discounts, and other initiatives. Participating retailers will receive engaging and educational POS materials to ignite consumer interest in the promotion. Additional benefits for retail participants include advertising support with National Prosecco Week’s top media partners, social media marketing, press support, and digital marketing. All partners will be featured on the National Prosecco Week website (http://www.casaprosecco.com).

National Prosecco Week aims not only to celebrate Prosecco but to serve an important educational purpose, teaching consumers and press how to identify authentic Prosecco and the many different ways to enjoy it.

For more information on National Prosecco Week and how to participate, please contact Julie Canevari (jcanevari@colangelopr.com) or Stefán Sigurðsson (ssigurdsson@colangelopr.com) of Colangelo & Partners (http://www.colangelopr.com), the agency of record in the U.S. for the Prosecco DOC Consortium. To stay updated for upcoming events and promotions, follow Prosecco DOC on Facebook (@proseccodocusa), Instagram (@proseccodoc_usa), and the Consortium’s official US website, http://www.casaprosecco.com.

About The Prosecco DOC Consortium:
Prosecco was granted the Controlled Designation of Origin status on July 17th, 2009, and the Prosecco DOC Consortium (Consorzio di Tutela della Denominazione di Origine Controllata Prosecco) was created on November 19th of the same year to coordinate and manage the Prosecco DOC. The organization unites the different groups of manufacturers—wineries, individual and associated vine-growers, still wine and sparkling wine producers—to ensure the designation continues to grow and that the production regulations are complied with.

About Prosecco DOC:
Prosecco DOC wines come in Spumante (sparkling), Frizzante (semi-sparkling) and Tranquillo (still) varieties. The wines are made from mainly the Glera grape, native to North East Italy for thousands of years, and can be combined with a maximum of 15% of the following grapes: Verdiso, Bianchetta Trevigiana, Perera, Glera lunga, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero. Prosecco Frizzante and Spumante varieties get their famous bubbles using the Secondary Fermentation production method, bottled under high pressure after fermentation in bulk tanks called autoclaves, as opposed to the traditional method, which bypasses the autoclaves and is used for other sparkling wine varieties. The end result is a brilliant straw yellow wine with fine, persistent perlage and aromas of white flowers, apple and pear. It is fresh and elegant on the palate with moderate alcoholic strength. For more information regarding Prosecco DOC, visit http://www.casaprosecco.com.

How Was Wine On The Roof…aka Wine Under the Roof? We Have ALL Of The Details!

May 18, 2019 by evebushman

Wine on the Roof was not held on May 16 on top of the Macy’s parking structure at Westfield Valencia Town Center. Instead, the event was in a different location and started earlier than planned. Why the changes? The rain! WiSH Education Foundation’s Executive Director Amy Daniels made the swift decision – after much consideration to everyone’s expectations – and moved the event inside one of the vacant shops in the mall. When guests started to arrive 30 minutes early, in the rain, they were let in early – and thoroughly enjoyed a longer stay at the “wine bar” that was filled with wines generously donated by the friends of the WiSH Education Foundation.

Wish Education Foundation Exec. Dir. Amy Daniels, and then some of the participating winemakers and vintners, left to right: Nate Hasper, Joey Perry and Steve Lemley, Pulchella Winery; Adam Hasper, Parhelion Cellars; Rick Pratt, Two Papas Wines; Dusty Nabor, Dusty Nabor Wines; Mark Blatty, Byron Blatty Wines.

Daniels, and a slew of volunteers, managed to turn an empty retail store into a party place that everyone appreciated. Neal Scott, of Nealie’s Skillet, commented, “Man, if I had a million dollars what a incredible space to make it an event space with Lyfe Kitchen. The mixers, weddings, big business events, city events…using both spots would be incredible. How cool would that be for the community.” Also on hand, and of note, was Neal’s wife Haydee who stepped up and volunteered to help with service all evening long.

The evening began with three appetizer courses paired with the private wine donations, speeches by Daniels and the president of WiSH, Richard Cohn. Next came Eve Bushman, of Eve’s Wine 101 and the creator and co-host of both Wine on the Roof and Cocktails on the Roof. Finally the newest co chair and winery recruiter Steve Lemley, of Pulchella Winery, spoke about the wineries and the pairings he and Bushman had done. The third co-chair of the event, Marlee Lauffer of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation, was vital in seeking the private wine donations. Lauffer chose to happily wave to her co-hosts from her seat surrounded by dozens of her friends and long time supporters.

Each course was presented with a wine – paired by Lemley and Bushman – and single menu card that listed the dish, chef, restaurant, winery, wine and winemaker. (Guests were prompted to take the menu cards home with them so they can reach out to the restaurants and wineries that they enjoyed.)

Musician Lance Allyn serenaded the party with live music throughout the evening, only taking breaks when Master of Ceremonies Ed Masterson took to the microphone to announce the next dish and invite both the winemaker and chef up to speak.

A dozen winemakers and vintners were seated among the guests to answer questions about the wines. A chef’s table was also set, on the off chance that the chefs and support staff could take a break. Many didn’t, instead they opted to help each other plating. “It’s quite the sight to see three chefs – or more – from different restaurants helping each other,” Bushman said. “It’s my favorite part of the evening and I always try to snap a photo or two of the action.” Chef Daniel Otto, of Old Town Junction, commented, “Awesome event. Thank you everyone for coming together and making this a very special event. Always amazing to collaborate with such talented people.”

New News for Wine On The Roof, Set For May 16

May 3, 2019 by evebushman

Presented by the WiSH Education Foundation, Wine on the Roof is being held on May 16, 2019 on top of the Macy’s parking structure at Westfield Valencia Town Center. The event, starting at 6:30 pm, will feature at least six food courses prepared by local chefs paired with many wines from our handpicked winemakers. In addition, this year we are adding wines for the appetizer hour donated by private wine enthusiasts.

Local favorite Lance Allyn will provide live music. Up to twelve winemakers and vintners will be seated among our guests to answer questions about the wines. Only 200 tickets will be sold.

“This was so popular for our first year that we had to bring it back again this year,” says Amy Daniels, Executive Director of the WiSH Education Foundation. “It’s a great way for our community to really enjoy and spoil themselves and support our local students.”

Created by Eve Bushman of Eve Bushman Consulting, the event is also hosted by Marlee Lauffer of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation and Steve Lemley of Pulchella Winery. Tickets are $125 and available now at www.WiSHscv.org.

Lemley added, “This is a wonderful opportunity for us as winemakers to share our wines as paired with food that presents them well. To be able to sit among the diners is yet another great occasion to share our knowledge and toast to a wonderful spring evening.” Adds Bushman, “We try to bring something new to these events every year and I think we’ve succeeded in doing that. The response has been incredibly positive and we look forward to another successful event for everyone involved.”

Currently, participants include Salt Creek Grille, Old Town Junction, Nealie’s Skillet, Olive Terrace, Honu Coffee, Greater Pacific, Newhall Press Room, Marston’s, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Company and Smokin Bar-B-Quties. Wineries include Pulchella Winery, Dusty Nabor Wines, The Blending Lab, Pagter Brothers, Triassic Vineyards, Ascension Cellars, Byron Blatty Wines, Hoi Polloi Winery, Parhelion Cellars, Two Papas Wines, Mystic Hills Vineyard and Golden Star Vineyards.

Each course is presented with a wine – paired by Lemley and Bushman – and single menu card that lists the dish, chef, restaurant, winery, wine and winemaker.

As the dishes are served our chefs and winemakers are invited to introduce the course and the wine respectively.

We want to promote our generous wineries and restaurants as much as we can and ask that our guests take the menu cards home with them so they can reach out to the restaurants and wineries that they enjoyed.

We ask that our guests be responsible; this is a 21 and over event. Westfield is allowing cars to be parked overnight in the garage and Hyatt Regency Valencia, only steps away from our roof, is offering a special rate of $109 for our guests. Simply call the Hyatt at 661-799-1234 and ask for the “Rooftop” rate.

We appreciate our sponsors Westfield Valencia Town Center, Eve Bushman Consulting, Santa Clarita Magazine, SOS Entertainment, and Jennifer Ramos Social Conduit. Our restaurant prep tent coordinator will again be the amazing Jennifer Chadwick of Salt Creek Grille.

For more information on ticketing and sponsorships, please contact Executive Director Amy Daniels at WiSH@hartdistrict.org or go to www.wishscv.org.

Wine and Spirit Goals for 2019, NOT Just About Drinking

January 11, 2019 by evebushman

Thinking that in my ten years of writing about wine and spirits, I must’ve set some goals, written them down and shared them in past articles. Did a quick Google search and found yea, sounds familiar as I did it once, just last year, in the column titled: Why Not Have…Drinking Goals for 2018? And No, it’s not too late to set them!

So I gave my 2018 article a gander, to see how many of my goals were met, to see if I should even attempt goals for 2019. The first goal, to learn about Mezcal, wasn’t a complete failure as I got to taste at least one in 2018. So that goal has a continuance for this year. I also went to more wine bars this year…or maybe I should say visited one wine bar more: Newhall Press Room. So that goal was partially met.

I made it to the Japanese Food and Restaurant Expo again, co-hosted our first Wine on the Roof and fourth Cocktails on the Roof for the WiSH Education Foundation, visited Salt Creek Grille and had wine, attended another Peatin’ Meetin’ organized by the LA Scotch Club and didn’t die…

But I still need my WSET Level 2 in spirits to be offered hands on as online classes are still the only type being offered. So I may have to give in on that goal, bite the bullet and try the online course this year.

Didn’t make it back to Utah or Denver for more spirits, but I did make it to SCOTLAND for plenty of Whisky!

Attended the tastings and classes at the Universal Whisky Experience in Las Vegas – which we plan to attend again this year in April.

So what’s up for 2019:

As the West Ranch Beacon* website shut down earlier this year, removing me from one weekly column commitment after about a decade, I thought I should look around for something new.

I can add more Eve Bushman Consulting Clients – so if you own a bar, restaurant, winery or wine bar and need some marketing ideas email me at Eve@EveBushmanConsulting.com. My business partner Michael Perlis and I have been successfully consulting and marketing for our clients for many years now.

Also thinking about trying something new…starting out as a small Brand Ambassador might be a good fit, though I’d need some training as that part of the industry is very new to me. I have plenty of experience with wine and spirits via the numerous events we’ve created and hosted, as well as the many we’ve marketed, and have enough wine and spirit education under my belt to be able to easily learn about a brand that is looking for representation in Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. If you hear of anything email me at Eve@EveWine101.com

So, those these new goals aren’t drinking goals, they all still involve the industry I’ve been involved with for over 10 years. I’m not going anywhere! Regardless of what I may add to my workload to make up for the closure of the West Ranch Beacon, know that Eve Wine 101 and Eve Bushman Consulting will continue as they have for many more years to come.

*If you hadn’t finished reading a particular article of mine on the Beacon, or are looking for my archived articles, please email me: Eve@EveWine101.com. I have all of my articles saved. Those over three years old were shared again, under the title “Vintage Eve” on Tuesdays on https://www.EveWine101.com. Newer articles, including the last three I did in the Scotland series, I can email out as word docs to whoever wants them. These will also be re-purposed on EveWine101 on Tuesdays within the next three years.

Eve Bushman has a Level Two Intermediate Certification from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET), a “certification in first globally-recognized course” as an American Wine Specialist ® from the North American Sommelier Association (NASA), Level 1 Sake Award from WSET, was the subject of a 60-minute Wine Immersion video (over 16k views), authored “Wine Etiquette for Everyone” and has served as a judge for the Long Beach Grand Cru and the Global Wine Awards. You can email Eve@EveWine101.com to ask a question about wine or spirits.

WiSH is important to everyone who lives in the Santa Clarita Valley, whether you have a student in our schools or not – great schools help keep our home values strong and educating our young people is vital to our community!

Will You Be Left Off the Roof?

August 24, 2018 by evebushman

The fourth Cocktails on the Roof is headed our way fast: September 7! We have new vendors joining our existing vendors and a new out-of-the-box idea – a Wine on the Roof table – added to what you have told us you love: DJ MAV from SOS Entertainment and a HUGE dance floor, both cozy private lounges and large public lounges, single spirit vendors and your favorite SCV restaurants sharing cocktail and food pairings, trees to create that “Manhattan” roof top feel and lights to…light it all up just for you!

COTR18 CardHosted by the WiSH Education Foundation, Eve Bushman of Eve’s Wine 101 and Eve Bushman Consulting and Marlee Lauffer, president, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation. A committee of worker bees and many volunteers make the event possible – and remarkable. Also, know that Cocktails on the Roof is a non-profit event that raises money to support over 23k Hart District students in grades 7-12 in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Participants at press time include Salt Creek Grille, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewery, Dulce Vida Tequila, Mammoth Coffee Roasting (Espresso Martini), JFC International (sake-based cocktails), Alchemy Valencia, Marston’s Valencia, An Indian Affaire, LA Scotch Club (the only event the club participates in), Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar, Pomp & Whimsy Gin Liqueur, Vines Restaurant and Bar, Willow Creek Distillery (formerly the Distillery at Opolo), The Newhall Press Room, (Moscow) Mule 2.0, Nealie’s Skillet, Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ, Honu Coffee, The Local Pub and Grill, Smokehouse on Main, Impex Beverages (spirit brands), La Cocina Bar and Grill, Claim Jumper Restaurant and Saloon, Figenza Fig Vodka, Sweet Beams Ice Cream Truck, Sweet T’s Treats and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

This year, for the first time and due to high demand, we will be adding a Wine on the Roof table to our Cocktails on the Roof layout. It’s our latest out-of-the-box idea from Eve Bushman! Our generous co-host from Wine on the Roof, local winemaker and winery owner Steve Lemley, will be talking about all of the exciting wines being produced in his facility and showcasing a few of the potential wines that will be part of the Spring 2019 event.

“This WiSH signature event is a perfect opportunity for our community to come together to party with a purpose!” said Amy Daniels, Executive Director, Wish Education Foundation. “This year our focus is STEAM, with an emphasis on the ARTS. Please help us make a difference right in the classroom by buying a ticket to the event, and consider getting your friends together for your very own private lounge!”

We welcome The Magazine of Santa Clarita, Elite Magazine, Littler, Oasis Associates, Andy Gump, SOS Entertainment, The Signal, SCVTV, Burrtec, Brightview Tree Company as current sponsors. Contact Amy Daniels at wish@hartdistrict.org for more sponsorship or lounge rental information.

“As WiSH’s flagship fundraiser, ‘Cocktails’ brings together a unique outdoors rooftop vibe with the chance to sample signature beverages and tastings for a unique local experience” began Richard Cohn, Chair, WiSH Education Foundation. “Coming together as a community for a memorable night out while supporting our schools is a win-win.”

Everyone is a VIP, with tickets only $85 for all you can eat and drink, or come as a Designated Driver and enjoy mocktails and food for $65. All tickets at the door are $95. What Did Everyone Think of Wine on the Roof?

June 8, 2018 by evebushman

Guests that had been to Cocktails on the Roof knew where to park, knew where to check in, knew their hosts and the non-profit – WiSH Education Foundation – but after that everything else we dreamed up for them was completely different. Cut to the chase to see just some of my photos here. We (see the # of volunteers below that contributed) had surprised our guests with several innovative ideas:

  • A small select group of winemakers and vintners from the SCV Custom Crush Services, owned by winemakers Steve Lemley and Nate Hasper, were chosen for the collaboration. Steve Lemley would also serve his first time as a co-host for our non-profit event. The winemakers, five of them, were seated among the guests ready to answer questions during dinner.
  • Rows of tables, almost all joined, were topped with floral centerpieces, waxed topped wine bottles that held the table numbers and bamboo flatware wrapped in cloth napkins. Many selfies were taken with the bottles and keepsake wine glasses!
  • Bare bulbs were strewn across our roof that were only outshone by a lingering sunset and then, one guest noted, a crescent moon and Venus.
  • There were about a dozen volunteers from Pinups for American Heroes decked out in 1950’s styles and adorned with cigarette trays filled with bread from The Speakeasy Bakery. Another volunteer followed them…seemingly to be holding a bourbon bottle that instead was filled with herb infused dipping oils.
  • A few of our chefs were on the roof for their first Santa Clarita Valley event and are noted below as DEBUTING AT EVENT.
  • DEBUTING AT EVENT: The Newhall Press Room offered up a half dozen of their popular “Valley Boards” that are about 3 feet long. As lines began to form winemakers worked the crowd sharing their own wines.
  • The menu was not public. Each bamboo plate was delivered with its own menu card describing the dish with the name of the restaurant, chef, wine pairing, winemakers and wineries. Guests were prompted to take home the cards to make sure they would frequent their favorites.
  • There were three desserts! As guests started to pack up after the first dessert luckily Assemblyman Scott Wilk was on hand and announced that there were more desserts coming out.
  • Music was provided all evening long by local “everyone loves” Lance Allyn.

wine on the roof crowdFor me, the day after (I had too much adrenaline to sleep) I finally got out of bed and was greeted by over 100 notifications on Facebook. I’m thinking…we did pretty well! So, when I recovered I looked at what those 100 notifications said. Amazing success! These are just a few:

Some of the Quotes

“Those two opening salads from Hundred Miles and Old Town Junction were the best courses of the night – along with the bread and the short rib! It was a fantastic night.” Steve E.

“Who knew that the best restaurant in Santa Clarita Valley is on the top of Macy’s parking garage?” Jeff J.

“HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to Brittany M Sanders and the ladies of PinUps For American Heroes. They truly deserve “Claritan” Medals of Honor for sticking around after our bread service was finished to help out serving. Above and beyond the call of duty.” Scott E.

“Thank you for having us! All of us from Pinups for American Heroes had a great time!” Brittany S.

“Highlights from me for the evening were, without a doubt, the bread… but the opening salad from Chef Otto at Old Town Junction was out of this world! Perfectly composed, perfect blend of flavors. Every bite was incredible! Also the two desserts from Wolf Creek and Salt Creek were amazing!” Todd W.

“I had the best evening under the stars enjoying amazing wine, delicious food and friends! What a unique collaboration that will become THE annual event for SCV.  I am really looking forward to Cocktails on the Roof in September again!” Lynne S.

“Congrats to fellow foodie Eve Hammond Bushman for pulling off a wonderful charity dinner/wine event atop the mall parking garage last night. Fabulous wines overseen and poured by Steve Lemley from Pulchella Winery and Tasting Room. Bread overseen by Scott Ervin and Todd R. Wilson of The Speakeasy Bakery.” Larry M.

“Great event Eve! Beautiful setting, perfect weather and very well executed!” Steve C.

“Congratulations to everyone involved, it was a very fun evening, food was outstanding!” Debra H.

“That was a RAGING SUCCESS! Thanks for putting on such a WONDERFUL event!” Bill M.

“Wine on the Roof…Thank you Eve Hammond Bushman and Amy Sieger Daniels for an amazing event, and evening!” Sandi P.

“I am so proud of the Wine on the Roof team. They have put on an amazing event tonight. Please remember that all that fun is to raise money for our public school kids. And give.” Amy D.

For me: It was seeing the collaboration really at work. Chefs helping other chefs in the prep tent, servers from different restaurants bringing individual menu cards and dishes to guests from other restaurants, iCue students working among tenured seasoned professionals, loyal long-time volunteers from Cocktails on the Roof working with all of the lovely ladies from Pinups for American Heroes. We envisioned how that would work; they did the work and made it come true.

We Thank:

Collaborating Chefs and Restaurants

Before the restaurants we were lucky to add in Jennifer Chadwick, of Salt Creek Grille, to be our Lead Coordinator in the prep tent. She worked with all of the various chefs and staffs to create a seamless presentation from: The Speakeasy Bakery, Bakers Scott Ervin and Todd Wilson, assisted by volunteers and DEBUTING AT EVENT: Pinups For American Heroes; DEBUTING AT EVENT: Newhall Press Room, Chef Trevor; DEBUTING AT EVENT: The Old Town Junction, Chef Daniel Otto; DEBUTING AT EVENT: Hundred Miles, Chef Louis Pechan; Olive Terrace Bar and Grill, Chef Lucio Teraza and Chef Alfonso Canuto; Bonefish Grill, Culinary Team; Sweet Beams Ice Cream Truck, Karin and Chris Beam; Nothing Bundt Cakes, Jennifer and Zachary Zeidler; Wolf Creek Restaurant, Pastry Chef Meghan Launier, 8. Get Ready For: Wine on the Roof…Dine on the Roof, a Collaborative Experience (Early Bird Ticket Sales End 4/15)

April 6, 2018 by evebushman

Apparently you Santa Claritans and wonderful supporters of local charity have demanded, yes demanded, more than one rooftop event from the people (see below) that have brought you Cocktails on the Roof. Your loud cries for us to keep your glass filled have been heard. We have now added Wine on the Roof to your calendar May 17!

Read on, as it’s definitely not the same kind of rooftop event we’ve ever had in Santa Clarita…

WOTROur Event: The Details From WiSH Executive Director Amy Daniels

The community came out in force for our signature event, Cocktails on the Roof, three sold out years in a row. With encouragement to do a second event during the year, this one with wine as the focus, we teamed up once again with Eve Bushman of Eve’s Wine 101 and Marlee Lauffer, President of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation, for Wine on the Roof. This gathering promises to be like nothing else offered in our region.

With beautiful lighting, music, photo opportunities and more, we will welcome our guests to a remarkable, one of a kind special evening that people will not soon forget. This evening promises to be like nothing else offered in our region.

Eve has teamed up with Steve Lemley as our co-host for this unique event. Lemley is a well-respected SCV winemaker that co-owns the SCV Custom Crush Services. Lemley will curate our wines from his local facility that houses over twenty different wineries – most, if not all, will be making their debut that evening – and we will have winemakers seated throughout the venue to allow for interesting and knowledgeable discourse.

Wine on the Roof has a distinctive layout to allow for camaraderie and conversation and you will be treated to a multi-course dinner. Because this is seated dining, a limited number of tickets are available. The event is open from 6-10pm and ticket pricing is set at $125pp or 2/$200. Please note that after April 15th, ticket pricing will be $150 or 2/$275. More information is available and tickets can be purchased at www.WiSHscv.org.

Collaborators: Winemakers, Chefs, and Restaurants

As we are just putting together our puzzle pieces of which chefs wants to provide which course, Steve and I will be tasting wines with them – if they like – in an effort to help with the food pairing. So far we will have Chef Daniel Otto’s debut from his soon to open restaurant, Chef Lucio Teraza of Olive Terrace Bar and Grill, Chef Ignacio “Nacho” Munoz and Pastry Chef Kristina Waggoner of Salt Creek Grille, Chef Louis Pechan of Hundred Miles LA, the Culinary Team at Bonefish Grill, Chef Trevor of the Newhall Press Room, Pastry Chef Meghan Launier of Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Company, the baristas of Honu Coffee, the sweet makers from Nothing Bundt Cakes and the Beams of Sweat Beams Ice Cream.

We will definitely be starting our evening with appetizers, then bread from the one and only infamous Speakeasy Bakery, mains, dessert – all with wines from winemakers exclusive to Pulchella Winery. Santa Clarita winemakers at press time include Steve Lemley, Nate Hasper, Mark Blatty, Scott Page-Pagter, Doug Minnick, Ted Behlendorf and Dan Erland Andersen.

Your Rooftop Team: Dreamers and Worker Bees

Besides the names of our co-hosts listed above this event is orchestrated by countless volunteers (thank you) and an energetic committee that sometimes takes up two dining room tables at my house: Ed Masterson, Richard Cohn, Alex Hafizi, Lynne Secrest, Judy Penman, Lisa Holt, Mitch Russell and Dawn Begley.
