California Wineries we miss that went bust before the current recession:

Ballard Canyon in Santa Ynez (Who remembers the Grape Stomp? That’s another blog post all by itself by “Buffy”, the name I used while wearing a crown of grape leaves and watching other’s whimsical attempts at stomping.)

Cilurzo in Temecula (Cilurzo named wines after his son and daughter, he was a retired lighting engineer for Merv Griffin and my husband enjoyed an impromptu basketball game once with his family after a tasting.) is now Bella Vista but with the same web address: http://www.cilurzowine.com/history.html

Stonegate moved a few years back for then – new giant Twomey (Only producing Merlot for Cabernet only winery, Silver Oaks.)

So when I got this e-mail from Woodland Hills Wine Company (http://www.whwc.com/) I asked if they would mind if I posted it. (Duh, Eve, they didn’t.) And now I look forward to making my own 30 minute trek down there.

One of the hardest hit wine categories during the current recession has been $50 – $125 California Cabs.
