Supporting Future Generations of Wine Industry Leaders

Wallys 6th Annual Central Coast Wine & Food Celebration

Benefiting the Michael Bonaccorsi Scholarship Fund at UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology (

The scholarship fund at UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology was created in the memory of Michael Bonaccorsi, one of California’s most gifted and passionate young winemakers. Scholarships are a key component of the UC Davis’ Department of Viticulture and Enology’s teaching program, one that provides a vital stepping stone for students pursuing careers in the California wine industry. Awarding a scholarship to a deserving student is one of the most direct and powerful ways to impact their lives. Scholarships also ensure that outstanding students are recognized for their achievements and deserving students receive the financial assistance they need.

Michael Bonaccorsi will serve as an inspiration for many future generations of California wine industry leaders because of this scholarship fund. It will provide a lasting legacy of a great California winemaker at one of the finest wine education centers in the world – UC Davis.

Once again, Wally’s popular summer afternoon tasting will include over 50 Central Coast wineries. To date, confirmed wineries include Sea Smoke, Saxum, Au Bon Climat, Qupé, Hitching Post Wines, Fiddlehead, Loring, Beckmen, Rusack, Presidio, Talley, Ambullneo, Whitcraft, Row Eleven, Paige 23, Summerland, Tantara, Linne Calodo, Arcadian, Turley, Claiborne & Churchill and Talbott.

With some of the best chefs and restaurants represented, including Frank Ostini showcasing the art of grilling on his traveling Santa Maria Barbecue pit from The Hitching Post II, returning guests from Los Angeles are Osteria and Pizzeria Mozza by Nancy Silverton and Mario Batali, La Brea Bakery, Spago Beverly Hills, Lucques/A.O.C./Tavern, Campanile, Comme Ça, The Hungry Cat and Sushi Roku. Featured from the best of the Central Coast are: Bouchon, Artisan, Pasolivo, and Brothers’ Restaurant at Mattei’s Tavern. Joining the event for the first time is Susan Feniger’s STREET, The Ballard Inn Restaurant and Full of Life Flatbread Pizza from Santa Barbara County.

In addition to the wine and food tasting, guests are invited to participate in a silent auction of rare wine offerings and premier gift packages. Last year’s live auction items included both a Martha’s Vineyard and NewYork City vacation package. All funds received will directly benefit the Michael Bonaccorsi Scholarship Fund. To entertain the crowd, Gary Burk’s lively group, the Inexpensive Winos, will reprise last year’s musical performance.
