Vintage Eve circa 8/16: Tasting Franciacorta sparkling wines, and Maybe a Visit Soon

August 6, 2019 by evebushman

Over 1 million visitors saw the Christo Floating Piers, but for anyone who missed it, we’ve pulled together 7 more reasons to visit the beautiful surrounding wine region of Franciacorta – Italy’s best-kept secret!!

Christo on Lake Iseo in Italy.

First and foremost – wine!: Choose from 100+ wineries found along the Strada del Franciacorta to sample Franciacorta. Handcrafted in the ‘metodo classico’, the sparklers are complex and crisp and range from rose to saten, a silky smooth style unique to the region.

Lounge on the lake: Take in panoramic views of the villages, castles and rolling hills during a scenic boat ride on Lake Iseo, where the Floating Piers installation was built!

Sleep like a monk: Stay at the Cappuccini Resort, a restored 17th century monastery for a romantic and luxurious experience. For even more art and history, check out San Pietro in Lamosa, an old church/monastery from 1083 with vintage baroque art and frescoes created in the 16th century.

Indulge at a world-class spa: Unwind at the five-star Henri Chenot Spa at L’ Albereta with wellness and health treatments that will have you returning home rejuvenated from your vacation.

Go Michelin for dinner: Foodies can dine in style at the Michelin starred restaurant Due Colombe, with a locally and seasonally-inspired menu, and can indulge throughout the region everywhere from trattorias to lake-side seafood.

Immerse yourself in nature: Explore the Torbiere del Sebino nature reserve and wetland surrounding San Pietro or see the beautiful waterfalls in Monticelli Brusati.

Celebrate!: Take advantage of the Festival Franciacorta which takes place 2 times a year – June and September – with live music, cellars tours at the wineries and local food, open to the public.

Aromas of freshly sliced green apples, cantaloupe melon and concrete; on the mouth was the sweeter Meyer lemon flavor (over a regular lemon), toast, crisp red delicious apples with a nice acidity. 88 Eve pts.
