Salt N Straw – Brewers Series Ice Creams for the Month of June!

Beloved Salt & Straw ice cream’s Brewer’s Series is available for the month of June, featuring a flight of five flavors incorporating porter, stout, lager, ale, and hazy IPA beers from the top microbrewers in America, made by co-founder and head ice cream innovator Tyler Malek.

Tyler has created many beer-inspired ice creams throughout the years, but this is the first menu of its kind that partners with the best breweries across the country in cities that also have Salt & Straw shops, including Métier Brewing Company in Seattle, WA; Breakside Brewery in Portland, OR; Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa, CA; Monkfish Brewing Co. in Torrance, CA; and Cerveceria La Tropical in Miami, FL. The flavors don’t just combine beer and ice cream, but instead celebrate the different beers by deconstructing each one and putting them back together in sweet, creamy form so the brewer’s original water-based creation is accurately reflected in each scoop.

The Brewer’s Series is the perfect gift for the beer-loving dad to enjoy on Father’s Day and to kick off summer season, available at all Salt & Straw shops and for nationwide shipping – flavors include:

  • Métier’s Black Stripe Porter & Bread Pudding – Métier Brewing is one of the country’s only black-owned breweries, and has become the archetype of how breweries can build community for beer. Tyler creates an ice cream base with their Black Stripe Coconut Porter, combined with Seattle restaurateur Donna Moodie’s famous gooey bread pudding and crispy toffee.
  • Breakside’s Barrel-Aged Chocolate Stout – Breakside Brewery is an award-winning microbrewery, and Tyler worked with head brewer Ben Edmunds for a custom beer for this flavor. He steeps cocoa nibs in their barrel-aged stout, which they then coat in chocolate, combine with cream and sugar, and swirl with a rich tres leches cake, made  with two leches and stout as the third liquid.
  • Russian River’s Supplication Ale w/ Manchego – Russian River’s Supplication Ale is aged 12 months, and comes out only once each year. Tyler blends the beer into a light fudge, swirled with a touch of manchego cheese and a ribbon of tart-cherry marmalade, creating a fresh and tangy flavor.
  • Monkish’s Space Cookies & Cream Hazy IPA – The pioneer in hazy IPA’s Monkish’s Space Cookies beer, which tastes like ‘nilla wafers, is replicated in ice cream form with a proprietary pastry technique, swirled with fresh grapefruit zest and ‘nilla wafer cookie butter.
  • La Tropical’s La Original Lager w/ Guava – Refreshingly tropical ice cream is made from La Tropical’s 150 year old Cuban Ambar Lager recipe, with a homemade flan and a sweet guava drizzle, with underlying notes of honey.
