DAVE AND PATTI REISS, AND JARED MEISLER, ANNOUNCE GRAND RE-OPENING OF VENICE’S THE BRIG

June 2, 2021 by evebushman

VENICE, California – THE BRIG, the iconic Westside watering hole, reopened on Friday, May 28, 2021. Owned and operated since 2000 by the reputable Dave and Patti Reiss (Reiss Co – Nueva, The Alibi Room & Vito’s Pizza), are newly joined by notable Los Angeles restaurateur Jared Meisler (Nueva, Roger Room, The Friend & The Little Friend). Fresh off their recent successful launch of Nueva, the trio has teamed their talents in reintroducing their fans to THE BRIG 3.0. Taking guests back in time to experience what was Babe Brandelli’s original Brig, featuring a late sixties mid-century esthetic of terrazzo floors, wood paneling, light earth-toned walls, smooth sounds of vintage Soul, Rock & Roll, and of course, Babe’s raison d’être – boxing.

THE BRIG, located at 1515 Abbot Kinney Boulevard (where it meets Palms Blvd.), with its bohemian charm and charisma reflecting the neighborhood’s diverse spirit, has always been the gateway to Los Angeles’ premier dining and shopping mecca in Venice, California. When travelers first glimpse THE BRIG’s iconic sign above the illustration of renowned Golden Globes boxer and former owner, “Babe” Brandelli, they know they have arrived in the heart of the Abbot Kinney district.

The Babe’s other passion, THE BRIG’s drink menu, has been re-mastered by Meisler and the reputable Raul Yrastorza, who crafted the tequila and Mezcal collections at Nueva, El Carmen and Las Perlas. The bountiful options include playful takes on boxing-centric craft cocktails, a who’s who of local brewers, California winemakers, kombucha and sparkling cider craftsmen, as well as a fresh take on the obligatory spirits menu. And to make a good situation even better, Meisler and the Reiss’s have invited sought-after sandwich aficionado UNCLE PAULIE’S to join the party, setting up shop at the far end of the bar, offering their classic Italian-American sandwiches in-house to match the playful beverage program.

THE BRIG’s storied marquee guides visitors to its entrance. Once through the weathered door, guests are greeted by a newly refreshed mid-century interior, influenced by the popular modern stylings during the early years of “Babe” Brandelli’s Brig. On the left lies a long Brazilian mahogany bar handsomely fitted with nougat leather barstools accentuated by brass fixtures. Behind the bar, patrons can ogle THE BRIG’s broad collection of distinctive spirits showcased below three large rectangular wood-framed mirrors that allow guests to observe the comings and goings around the room. There are three large flat-screen televisions perfect for upcoming spectating events. Complementing the bar are intimate mahogany banquettes covered in camel ultra-suede. Venturing deeper into the hull of THE BRIG, find subtle rise leading to an elevated play area where L-shaped, camel-colored bench seating frames the vintage maroon Valley-Dynamo billiard table. Large globes hang from the ceiling, effusing soft light reflecting off back-painted mirrors, flowing with varying shades of colored glass. The walls are adorned with Ellsworth Kelley-inspired mid-century geometric works of art.

At the rear of the bar is the entrance to the newly added expansive patio, flanked by the famed Art Mortimer mural-with-in-a mural. Guests can lose themselves in this spacious outdoor seating area as they wind through a mix of Ficus trees and colorful picnic-style tables and benches reminiscent of the mysterious corners and out-of-the-way spots found in yesterday’s fern bars. The setting exudes the relaxed southern California style and vibe for which Venice is known. Whether it is a warm summer evening or First Friday, it will be the place to see and be seen.rum

THE BRIG continues with its popular MOJITOS menu, including SPICY with Havana Club Rum, Mint, Lime & Thai Bird Chili; MEZCAL with Mal Bien Mezcal, Mint & Lime; ABSINTHE with Pernod Absinthe, Mint & Lime. HOUSE COCKTAILS include BANTAMWEIGHT with Passion Fruit, Aperol & Prosecco; KNOCK OUT with Vodka, Cucumber, Mint, Ginger & Crushed Ice; D0WN BY LAW with Rye Whisky, Fernet Branca & Angostura Bitters, Stirred and Served Up; SOUTHPAW with Reposado Tequila, Hibiscus, Mandarin, Averna, Served Tall & Over Ice; MAIN EVENT with Blanco Tequila, Ancho Chili, Pineapple, Lime, Served Tall & Over Ice; and SLUGGER with Bourbon, Baronjager Honey Liqueur, Lemon, Habanero Bitters, Stirred & Served on the Rocks. Meisler also adds a SHOT & BEER menu including “BABE” BRANDELLI with Bourbon + Rolling Rock Bottle; JULIO “EL CESAR” CHAVEZ with Tequila + Carta Blanca Bottle; RAY “BOOM BOOM” MANCINI with Ferrari (Half Fernet/Half Campari) + Peroni Bottle; JAMES “LIGHTS OUT” TOMEY with Elijah Craig + IPA Can; and “MARVELOUS” MARVIN HAGLER with Mezcal + Grapefruit Radler Can. (For a complete list, please visit THE BRIG’s online drink and spirits menu)

THE BRIG is open for service Monday – Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. For those seeking a refined private experience, THE BRIG offers customized Private Events by appointment.

Beverages will be available for takeout.

ABOUT JARED MEISLER:

Jared Meisler, raised in Los Angeles, discovered his passion for nightlife and bringing people together while playing music in clubs on the Sunset Strip. Meisler began his career promoting shows and parties and booking fellow musicians and DJs in old mansions and warehouses throughout Los Angeles. Together they opened Bar Lubitsch, an art deco-styled Vodka bar in West Hollywood, then the instant classic – The Roger Room, followed by The Pikey, a high-end pub on the Sunset Strip. Desiring to expand his network, Meisler partnered with Artist Andre Saraiva to open The Friend, in Silverlake which instantly became a hub for artists, musicians and all creative types. The Friend, known as one of the coolest bars in town, expanded to Venice with The Little Friend. The Little Friend is located just behind the former Sunny Spot in Venice and led to the successful collaboration with Dave & Patti Reiss (Reiss Co) and the transformation of Sunny Spot into Nueva in 2020.

Vintage Eve Circa 8/2018: What Did We Love the Most at Live and Dine LA?

February 16, 2021 by evebushman

Angeleno‘s annual Live & Dine LA event honors the city’s most distinguished chefs and restaurateurs that continue to shape and evolve L.A.’s culinary scene. Guests will be treated to exclusive culinary demonstrations prepared by award-winning chefs, which will be paired with delicious wines and artisanal cocktails. This evening of culinary indulgences and refreshing libations is sure to make for a memorable date night, with its luxury lounges and unique tasting experiences under the stars and the Fairmont’s iconic (and romantic) fig tree.

Count me in! The last time I covered an event at the Fairmont Miramar – on Wilshire Blvd. just a block from the beach – was a Union des Grands Crus (UGC) Bordeaux Tasting in one of the large convention rooms. This time, as promised, we were outdoors under their enormous fig tree. Being outdoors was fine with me, as long as it was away from the street that, if you’ve been reading the news, is littered with abandoned electric scooters, the latest “craze” that may be dismantled by the time this article runs.

But lets move on, sorry about that, my attention had definitely been happily taken over by all of the restaurants, wineries and spirit companies – no scooters needed. (Read on or skip to the photos here.)

The crowd of smart couples and singles meandered from one welcoming table to another. My favorites of the tables (I couldn’t do it all!) started with

Menhir Salento Winery represented by Gaetano Marangelli, where I tasted Italian wines from Puglia. Between the Pass-O white blend to the Primitivo – I was enchanted. I hope to go through a tasting of their complete line up soon!

From there I inhaled: the Crab Guacamole with shaved Truffle from The Nixon in Whittier, Garlic Crostini from HomeCooked, the incredible Burrata cheese from di Stefana, a refreshing Lillet-based (a white Bordeaux wine made with quinine and citrus) cocktail made simply with tonic, Chick Souvlaki from Cleo, Roasted Peppers from FIG, Provence’s Domaine de Cala Rose wine, Ocean Prime Watermelon Salad, looooved the Mongibello blood orange juice with Tito’s vodka, and Deviled Green Eggs and Ham from Boa Steakhouse stole the show until I had a Deviled Egg from Yardbird that was equally yum-worthy.

Moving to the other side of the fig tree my taste buds were further delighted with wheat-based Carbonadi Vodka from Italy, AN Catering Garlic Noodles, a carved tri-tip sandwich from Grand Food and Beverage, really tasty cocktails from Gratitude, and Viva Tequila 32 Reposado in my favorite cocktail of the day made with Grapefruit and lime juices, agave, orange bitters and Aperol!

Still not done I munched on a heavenly slice of Grilled Cheese with Summer Truffle from Salt in Marina Del Rey (well worth a short wait in line), killer Reposado cocktails from Gracias Madre in West Hollywood and more lovely Burrata from Mozza. Of final note guests really appreciated the two open lounge spaces that served delicious Brugal Rum from the Dominican Republic and chilly gin cocktails from Sipsmith.

Thoughts During a Time of Covid, and What We’ve Been Drinking Through it All

July 10, 2020 by evebushman

We all have found a new normal here in California since our original stay-at-home orders hit us in March and still continue now with the slow re-opening of businesses. There are those that lamented daily on social media and those that joked about it. We all had to find a way to get through this. Personally we had just finished up a wine trip to Paso, and were looking forward to another the same month, then WHAM!

My last trip to Paso was just before the stay-at-home orders.

I was one of those people that focused on the positive on social media, sometimes by sharing silly light-hearted posts. I also decided to work for free. Created and promoted the New-Haul Drive-Through event, suggested that the Vine 2 Wine event I was working on with Circle of Hope change to a To-Go format (where they ended up earning just as much as they had in their last live event), did an Influencer’s Night for one restaurant’s reopening, and spent more time promoting bars, wineries and restaurants on social media more than ever before. Because why not. What did you do and learn from your Covid time out?

Here are a few takeaways of what I learned, and some of the wine and cocktails that have gotten me through it so far:

  • First off I began to notice that social media had really taken off, there was 30% to 100% more people online daily than ever before. I used this information to begin promoting local businesses by either sharing their posts or by making my own from photos and videos every time I ordered food and drinks to-go.
  • Along with more attention to social media, and having the time to notice things around me more, I began reaching out to check on friends near and far. Often on Zoom and always with a drink in hand. Friends were more than appreciative.
  • The “Gin Old Fashioned” was cocktail my nephew Zack told me about. Couple of ounces of gin with a little simple syrup, bitters and an orange peel garnish. He gave me the recipe a couple of years back, but in my effort to find something new to drink at home I tried it again. Very refreshing.
  • Created a new motto, “If you can afford it support it” that pretty much covers how I feel. It’s been a time to focus on businesses that aren’t doing as well, and if you can help them out why not?
  • Discovered EmergenCee Hydration packets that I could add to my water and have during my now daily workouts. With spending less time driving to and from the gym I found that I had more time for exercise, and often spent an hour walking my neighborhood after a workout. The energized water may have helped, and at the same time it has helped me feel more covid-protected.
  • An old time favorite, the Aperol Spritz, came back as March turned into June.

With the heat, and missing a planned trip abroad at the same time, it helped to have the simple-to-make drink at home. It was almost like being in Italy…almost.

  • Pizza, Amish Bread, Rye and Rolls, oh my! My husband had already been baking bread before this all began, but he upped his game during Covid. The weekly pizza and bread added a nice 5 pounds to my mid-section but it was so worth it! And what goes better with pizza than wine?
  • Wine on the Porch: this is something we’ve done for years, but once we could get together when friends again, we found a way to add more chairs and space them out. Now pals that aren’t ready to dine out yet have asked to have drinks on our porch with us.
  • Downloading the TikTok app and enjoying all the booze-related stories I could share on social media. For those of us with a short attention span, or if you don’t have too much time for social media, TikTok is a Godsend.
  • These wineries were amazing in the Vine 2 Wine, To Go event so support them if you can: Mystic Hills, Entourage by Two Papas, Alonso Family Vineyards, Pagter Brothers, Hoi Polloi, Pulchella, Parhelion Cellars, Byron Blatty, Cavaletti Vineyards, Artisan Uprising, Dusty Nabor and Bolt to Wines.
  • #CovidCrazy was my hashtag one day as there have been some horrific things happening – won’t go into the specifics here as everyone knows and I prefer not to get political – that I personally think may have been actions partially fueled by the stress of Covid-19.
  • Wine-themed masks became the rage. A good pal and my sister-in-law made me versions that no one else could duplicate. Thanks again ladies.
  • We bid on and won a future trip to an all-inclusive – yes including liquor – resort vacation, for up to 8 guests in Barbados. Wouldn’t ever have bid on that if we hadn’t been locked up at home and desperate for a vacation in the future.
  • I’m going to miss finding a plate of cookies or some other treat on my porch. And I’m sure my neighbors may miss the bottle of wine given in thanks on theirs.
  • Free local wine delivery, often by the winemaker, was very nice! I was sorry that they had to discount their wines and offer personal delivery at their own cost though.
  • Zoom offerings became the standard, and some had to step out-of-the-box to be seen as everyone began offering them. Unique ones included Daily Drinking with Wes Hagen, Cheese and Wine pairings with Phifer Pavitt, weekly wine tasting with Byron Blatty and virtual tastings with Paso winemakers.

Things weren’t all perfect, not by a longshot, like everyone else lamenting what they missed so did we: our daughter’s graduation from CSUN and her birthday, missing many friends that have compromised health and couldn’t leave their homes, Santa Barbara Culinary Experience, The Cab Collective, the Tenth Annual Universal Whisky Experience, the Fifth Annual Masters of Taste, Art Beyond the Glass, Wine on the Roof, judging a Chili Cook Off, my birthday and a 12-day cruise that had us starting in Venice (where of course I had booked some wine tastings for a few days before), Greek islands, Croatia (wine tasting again) and Turkey before coming back to Venice.

What did you gain and what did you miss? We pray that you have been well and the same for our loved ones.

Why I Go Both Ways: Enjoying Wine and Spirits

June 19, 2020 by evebushman

When I first started drinking wine and decided to spend the time and money for further education and certification, I didn’t think about studying spirits as well. However, the course I wanted offered by WSET at the time, included both. (WSET stand for Wine and Spirits Education Trust. In the last few years they have split the two certifications, though they still go by the WSET name.)

L to R: Claudia Sheridan, Denise Lowe and Eve Bushman shortly after receiving out WSET pins in 2010.

It was in those classes that I got to spend time learning about a wide array of wines as well as spirits. It might have been where the bug for spirits bit me. If you were to talk to my husband he would say that his interest in single malt scotch was what swayed me. (He may be right as we cover more than one whisky event a year. That category alone includes his beloved single malt scotch as well as rye, bourbon and blended scotch whisky.)

Fast forward a few years and I found myself offered not only wine tasting opportunities but spirit tasting as well. There is one event that offers both wine and spirits, and in those my Contributing Editor Michael Perlis usually covers the wine while I do the spirits. It’s a bit different than wine tasting – the offered taste is smaller, you still sniff and taste, but spit all out as the alcohol levels are so much higher. With that said, I usually only make it halfway through a spirit tasting until my lips grow numb and I have to take a break.

From spirit tastings I moved into a little bit of mixology classes and started experimenting with making cocktails at home. We hit on a few favorites and have stuck with them over the years.

My husband, also a lover of both wine and spirits, started buying me gifts that the home bartender would need, and I returned the favor and found him some unique items as well.

We now have travel kits, three or four shakers, different measures of “shot” glasses, bar spoons, single “rock” makers, simple syrup, brown sugar, sweet and dry vermouth, Amaro, Compari and other mixers, as well as a nice array of bitters, cherries, oranges, limes and lemons at any given time.

One friend, a fellow wine writer, asked me how I could like both wine and spirits. I found the question in and of itself to be peculiar, but answered anyway, I felt – and still do feel – that there are just as many discoveries in  aromas and flavors in both. If you can detect things like fruit, nuts, botanicals, earth and wood in your wine you will be pleased to learn that some of the same aromas and flavors are in your spirits.

On hot days we often enjoy chilled Viognier, Chardonnay, Picpoul de Pinet, Sauvignon Blanc, sparkling…basically any white wine that we own. But, on some hot days we also have been known to enjoy a gin Martini, Moscow Mule, Aperol Spritz, Sazerac, Negroni, Margarita, Rob Roy, Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. Usually how it works is that we have a cocktail before (aperitif) or after (digestif) dinner, and a nice bottle of white wine with warm weather dishes such as salads, seafood, chicken and cheese plates. During the cooler days of fall and winter we often enjoy Rhônes and Bordeaux varietals with dinner, but still enjoy a cocktail before or after.

After our best meals, which usually means a beautiful sous vide filet and a red wine from our cellar, we often finish our evening not with a cocktail but with a nosing glass (aka a Glencairn) of one of our favorite single malt scotch whiskies. Then we linger over those flavors as well.

Now, how do you imbibe? Maybe it’s time to widen your taste profile a bit.

Vintage Eve Circa 10/2016: Differentiating Prosecco from Champagne with Astoria Prosecco DOC Trevisio

October 8, 2019 by evebushman

This week I tasted a new Prosecco (at least it was new to me) and along with the bottle for review I received a little education for wine 101ers on the difference between Italy’s Prosecco and France’s Champagne.

Photo: InsideWine.it

First will be my review of the wine and second will be the information from the winery, Astoria Prosecco.

Tasting

When I opened the shipping box the first thing I noticed about the wine was the bottle: it was a in a design that mimicked a large cut crystal wine goblet topped with shiny red foil – very eye catching. Once opened I got aromas of grapefruit, freshly sliced green apple, peach and pear. The same pear and peach were easily detected in the taste, followed by lemon-lime and orange zest. After my sample I made crisp Aperol Spritzers with the remaining wine. All in all, bottle design included in my evaluation as it was so unique, I would give Astoria Prosecco 91 Eve Pts.

The winery tasting notes: Astoria Prosecco DOC Treviso ($13): a pale, straw yellow sparkling wine marked by a fruity bouquet, clean citrus flavors and fine, persistent bubbles.

From Astoria Prosecco

The wine world is full of common myths. Perhaps most common is the misconception that all sparkling wines are created equal. Take Prosecco and Champagne — two bubbly bouteilles of equal delight that are surprisingly cut from two very different cloths.

Let’s break it down:

  • First, let’s talk region. Prosecco is from Italy and Champagne is from France. Full stop.
  • Second, consider the grapes. Prosecco is made from Prosecco grapes, also known as “Glera” in Italy.

Champagne, on the other hand, is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.

  • And third, while we know it’s taboo to talk money, you can’t help but notice a stark difference in price. That’s because Prosecco is produced using the very affordable “Tank Method” which helps drive down the average cost to just a bottle.

By contrast, Champagne is made using the very costly “Méthode Champenoise” or “Traditional Method.” The result? Prices average around $40 a pop.

The Night Is Bright At The Moon Bar At Lunetta: Santa Monica’s Stellar New Cocktail Bar Offers Evening Oasis For Thirst-Quenching Cocktails & Cool Coastal Ambiance!

August 13, 2018 by evebushman

Santa Monica, CA – After a fun day of surf and sun, when the tide begins to rise and the moon makes its nightly arch, The Moon Bar at Lunetta opens its doors and welcomes guests to partake in an evening of progressive, chef-driven elevated New Californian Cuisine and masterfully Handcrafted Cocktails. Presented by Chef Raphael Lunetta and the Lunetta Team, The Moon Bar is coquettishly tucked inside Lunetta Dining, capturing the atmospheric California coast quiescence with the approachability of an evening neighborhood cocktail bar that welcomes guests from all over Greater Los Angeles!

Helming The Moon Bar beverage program is Beverage Director & Sommelier Kristine Bocchino, who contributes her expertise in food and wine to quarterly publication EdibleLA, Westlake Magazine, and has most recently served as a judge in Italy for the Cocktail & Bartending Competition at the Florence Cocktail Week 2018. Describing her approach to the House Libations, Bocchino says, “The cocktails are heavily influenced by Chef Raphael Lunetta’s menu, particularly his incorporation of produce from the Farmers Market.” Fortuitously, there is no need to vacate the alluring ambience of The Moon Bar once guests begin feeling peckish as the full menu from Lunetta Dining is always available.

Vodka + Gin employs the use of clear spirits to bring guests three light and revivifying cocktails beginning with the cheekily named Spicy Like a Sleepover, undoubtedly the star cocktail of the menu, and prepared with St. George Green Chili vodka, Becherovka, coconut cream, lemongrass, ginger, and lime; the East Side to the West Side featuring Fords Gin, cucumber, mint, lime, orgeat, and Angostura Bitters, and the Honey Ryder made with London Dry Gin, pamplemousse, lemon and bubbles. Creamy with a hint of spice, the Spirits from South of the Border sizzle things up with Tequila + Mezcal based cocktails such as the Mariposa Calor comprised of Espadin mezcal, Amaro Nonino Aperol, lime, Firewater bitters, or get a little pep in your step with the Tired but Wired featuring blanco tequila, Rhum Agricole, housemade chamomile-turmeric syrup, coconut cream, Blackstrap Bitters, and lime. What restaurant by the beach would be complete without a couple of Rum libations, starting with a creative twist on a beachy classic, the Oaxacan Mai Tai, comprised Plantation Pineapple Rum, mezcal, lime, Dry Curacao, orgeat, and Angostura bitters. Hang ten and bottoms up to the Gnarly Surfer, a mixture of Rhum Agricole, pineapple gomme, lime, Blackstrap Bitters, and vegan egg white. Three liquid amber cocktails await Whiskey enthusiasts, starting with the Salted Butter, featuring Japanese whisky, Cocchi di Torino, Suze, Italicus, and grapefruit bitters, while Bocchino breathes new life into two quintessential mixed drinks, first with the Pimms Cup 2420, with Buffalo Trace, lemon, honey peach bitters, and Pimms, and lastly, make no mistake this is Not Your Nonna’s Negroni, comprised of rye, Mr. Black Cold Brew, Cappelletti, and Cocchi di Torino.

If Wine is your pleasure, there is no better place to enhance your meal than The Moon Bar with eclectic varietals offered by the glass and by the bottle. Offering a tickle of Sparkling effervescence is the French Aubry Brut Rosé, and Hébrart Brut Cuvee de Reserve, or the Italian Ferrari Brut Sparkling. Pert and pink, Rosé includes the 2017 Liquid Farm “Vogelzang” Happy Canyon from Santa Barbara, as well as a Grenache based Rosé straight from the Sierra Foothills of California: the 2017 The Wither’s El Dorado. Essential for California coastal living, the White varietals start with a wine that Bocchino boasts is, “ideally paired with shellfish as it provides superb acid,” the 2015 Picpoul Forlorn Hope Rorock Vineyard, from Calaveras County, followed by a 2015 Viognier Yves Cuilleron from Condrieu, France, and all of the way from Kamptal, Austria the 2016 Gruner Veltliner Weinschlossl. Bold and sumptuous, a Red is sure to compliment the meal, such as the Spanish 2015 Grenache Palacios, Les Terrasses, or a bold and refreshing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec,  uniting to create the 2015 Alpha Omega II Rutherford from Napa Valley. With the final Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot blend, the 2010 Phélan Ségur Saint Estephe is sure to please every Bordeaux lover. For the true connoisseur, the Cellar Selections provide unique vintages such as the Bordeaux-Style blend from Napa Valley, the 2001 Joseph Phelps Insignia, or a wine born from the Nebbiolo grape in the mountains of the famous Piemonte region of Italy, the 1998 Gaja Costa Russi, also offered from Champagne, France is the 1997 Salon Les Mesnil Blanc de Blancs.

Creating The Moon Bar look and feel of comfortable but lush beach city cocktail bar is De JONG & Co. For the interior, De JONG & Co. employed contrast and drama as the timeless navy blue of the exterior is carried through The Moon Bar. Cached in the richness of the elements, walnut, soapstone and satin brass accents lend a density to the environment that is at the same time sophisticated and cozy, with custom plush green velvet furniture in a sea of green and teal encaustic tile, and custom designed shelving to showcase all that The Moon Bar has to offer. The details on its casework draw the eye up to a wall-to-wall ceiling treatment of ornate foliage, as though the ocean of the walls rise up to the forested sea floor. A skylight centers the room, with a single exposed beam cutting through like a ship’s mast, and tasteful brass lighting serve as portholes in this stately ship’s cabin. Funneling into the adjacent Lunetta Dining, the night sky is revealed in the constellation-inspired tiling laid out by the firm’s principal designer Ruth De Jong. Look closely and you can spy the Big Dipper.

Warm in attitude while relaxing in composition, The Moon Bar at Lunetta is a new sultry getaway in Santa Monica where you can sip a handcrafted cocktail by a fireplace, meet up with friends, or unwind with your own thoughts at the bar!

The Moon Bar at Lunetta is open every Tuesday through Friday from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm, and every Saturday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. For more information or to make reservations, please visit www.LunettaSM.com please call The Moon Bar at Lunetta directly at 310.581.9888.

BAR TOSCANA INTRODUCES ITALIAN SPRITZER LINE-UP – AN EXCLUSIVE AND AUTHENTIC APERITIVO

March 17, 2018 by evebushman

In the stylish and social traditions of northern Italy, the talented Bar Toscana Mixologists – Bar Manager/Mixologist Brighid Maguire in collaboration with Mixologists Miguel Hernandez and Robert Carder – have designed four Spritzers for guests to mingle over a pre-dinner cocktail at the recently redesigned bar and restaurant in Brentwood. Considered the most popular cocktail in Italy, and differing from the American Spritzer, the Bar Toscana Spritzers are created with premier Italian liqueurs of grape, rose and bitter citrus mixed with spirits of Aperol, Campari and Cynar, prosecco, fresh fruit juices and soda.

The Spritzers, in addition to the Bar Toscana specialty drink menu, include the Michelangelo; the Donatello; the Raphael; and the Leonardo. The cocktails have been created to complement the extensive Italian Stuzzichini menu of light appetizers and shared plates created by Chefs Hugo Vasquez and Justino Quirino at Bar Toscana. All Spritzers are priced at $14 and will be available beginning March 20, 2018.
