Galvanized by their experience at The Great Chefs Event benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in Philadelphia, Goin, Styne and Lentz felt ready to partner with their east coast friends and lead the way for a Los Angeles-designed event to broaden the reach of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. L.A. supporters enthusiastically responded with huge turnouts in the first four years, sampling signature dishes of more than 35 renowned chefs and reaching nearly $2 million in sponsorship, ticket and auction sales in the short time period. Goin, Styne and Lentz are busily preparing stunning dining and experience packages for the fall 2014 event.

More than 1,700 people attended the 2013 event, which raised over $530,000. Those in attendance, were provided with entertainment from master of ceremonies Jimmy Kimmel, but also heard from Liz and Jay Scott, Alex’s parents, and the hosts of the event Chef Suzanne Goin, business partner Caroline Styne and Chef David Lentz.

“We can only describe what happens every year as magical. To see all of the talented people who happily come together for such a worthy cause is incredibly gratifying. The bonus is to witness everyone having a great time with the best food, wine and spirits and even see kids at play, all in name of Alex Scott,” said Caroline Styne. “From the start of creating this cookout, Alex has been the one who inspired us and her legacy makes us try harder every year to raise more funding for research. Once you hear the story of her life, you can’t help but get involved.”

“The L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade event continues to be one of the most inspiring, and not to mention delicious, events of the year benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and Co-Executive Director of the Foundation. “We have been continually amazed by the dedication of Suzanne, Caroline and David to help achieve our daughter’s mission – a cure for all kids with cancer, as well as the outpouring of support from their friends who travel from all corners of the country to participate in this important fundraising event.”

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $80 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 450 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
