NEW CAYUGA LAKE WINE TRAIL LOGO INTRODUCED TO ENHANCE BRAND RECOGNITION AND HONOR HERITAGE

FINGER LAKES, NEW YORK – The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail announces a new logo, making the most dramatic change to its visual identity since the organization’s inception in 1983. “It was time for the Trail to have a fresh new image that reflected who we are as a unified group of passionate wine makers, many of whom have been part of the New York wine industry since long before the Finger Lakes began attracting attention as a notable wine region” says executive director, Cassandra Harrington.

12347642_10152805822572395_727373514834784426_nThe Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is a nonprofit membership based organization established to help promote wineries located within the Cayuga Lake American Viticulture Area (AVA) as a collective. In 1983, it became the first wine trail in America when five fledgling wineries joined together in attempt to draw visitors as a group, rather than individually.

After a thorough proposal process, the Trail contracted with Clark CSM Marketing Communications in Pittsford, NY to help construct an updated visual representation of their identity in the form of a new logo and brand image. Glenn Clark, President of Clark CSM comments, “Wine trails in the Finger Lakes face the unique challenge of having to differentiate themselves from similar trails with excellent but similar wines on similar lakes. And while it’s true that Finger Lakes wines continue to earn critical acclaim around the world, it’s another matter to help consumers understand what’s special about the wineries along any given lake. When we started looking at the characteristics that were unique to the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, themes around tradition and heritage kept showing up, and in fact Cayuga Lake had the first wine trail in America. Ultimately it became clear to us that the most powerful way to differentiate the brand in the mind of the consumer was to celebrate its longevity and history.”

The design elements of the new file contains the “vine to wine” concept from the former logo, a weathered look and the words “America’s First” for authenticity, and is in the shape of a seal, exemplifying the quality of product produced by our members.

Cayuga Lake wineries pioneered the wine trail concept, which has been mimicked by numerous organized trails across the country ever since. Many of the founding members of the Trail are still involved, working alongside their small team in all aspects from harvest and production to sales and marketing. Their hands-on approach to running their wineries sets the stage for friendly service and handcrafted products, sealed with their personal approval.

The current sixteen member wineries invite everyone to visit in order to truly experience what sets the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail apart from its neighbors.
