WHY: BLOOD, BONES, AND BUTTER: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef (On Sale March 1) is an unconventional memoir about food, purpose, and family that begins with Gabrielle’s childhood living with her parents and four siblings in a burnt-out nineteenth-century silk mill in rural Pennsylvania where her father used to throw amazing parties to the dismantling of her family after her mother moved, leaving Gabrielle to support herself as a teenager by lying about her age and working in restaurants and bars and participating in all kinds of questionable, dramatic, and often illegal behavior before finally finding her place as a restaurant owner and then to honing her craft as a writer. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/01/17/110117fa_fact_hamilton
