Wineries to host events throughout North America with proceeds going to local charities.
Wineries and wine-related businesses have joined together to celebrate the third annual Wine Tourism Day on November 7, 2015 by hosting events throughout North America. This year’s Wine Tourism Day is focused on giving back to our communities. Many event hosts will be donating all (or a portion of) the earnings from the day to a local charity of their choice.
Wine Tourism Day is organized by wine tour operators Zephyr Adventures and Taste Vacations. It is designed to celebrate the many wineries and other businesses offering wine-related events throughout North America and beyond, promote the concept of traveling to wine regions on vacation, and highlight the economic impact of wine tourism.
“We believe if the wine tourism industry as a whole is successful, we all succeed as individuals,” says Allan Wright, president of Zephyr Adventures. “This year, we’d like to take it a step further and extend that philosophy into the community, which is why this year’s Wine Tourism Day is focused on giving back to local charities.”
This year’s Wine Tourism Day is being held in conjunction with the European Day of Wine Tourism, occurring the following day on November 8, 2015. The European Day of Wine Tourism was established in 2009. At the 2012 Wine Tourism Conference, an annual gathering of the industry’s leaders, attendees voted to bring the concept to North America.
“The wine tourism industry continues to thrive as wine industries develop throughout the United States and the world and consumers become more interested in learning about wine at its source,” says Wright. “Wine tourism is vital to the success of both wineries and local wine region economies and is certainly an industry worth celebrating.”
Wine Tourism Day is being supported by a number of industry partners including LocalWineEvents.com, Touring and Tasting Marketing & Media, WineAmerica, Canadian Vintners, Tourism Penticton, BeverageTradeNetwork.com, Wine Trail Adventures, The Tasting Panel, WineBusiness.com, Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute, Wine Institute, CANVAS, and the Wine Tourism Conference in addition to wine and tourism associations in wine regions throughout North America.
