Two local wineries bring “a bit of wine country” to Old Town Newhall
SANTA CLARITA, APRIL 5, 2018 – Hoi Polloi and Pagter Bros Wineries – the two wineries which share The Double Trouble Wine Room in Old Town Newhall – announced Wednesday that they will hold a long-awaited Grand Opening celebration during the month of April to mark their one-year anniversary of bringing a “wine country” experience to the Santa Clarita Valley.
Double Trouble is Santa Clarita’s newest winery attraction on the up-and-coming renovated Main St. in thriving Old Town Newhall. The two wineries both source world-class grapes from top vineyards in Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, and Sonoma and lovingly handcraft high-scoring wines at their shared winery facility in Santa Clarita, then pour them for customers in Newhall.
The spacious, airy, room and large comfortable back patio area make it a perfect place to relax and bring your own picnic, cheese, or to order food from the many menus on hand from area restaurants. The winemakers themselves are usually present and happy to share their knowledge as well as their wines.
Asked about the timing of the “Grand Opening”, Pagter Brothers owner Scott Page-Pagter laughed, “We’re not real big on schedules. We tend go by feel, and now it just feels right. Better late than never!”
Hoi Polloi Winery co-owner Ted Behlendorf agreed. “The tasting room has been a work-in-progress for the last year. That’s why people need to keep coming back – we’re full of surprises!”
Both Pagter and Hoi Polloi’s Doug Minnick have long histories in the music business, so it is only natural that they are bringing excellent music to the Double Trouble Wine Room. In addition to the usual unpretentious, no-snobs-allowed atmosphere, the anniversary will feature live music every weekend, food trucks, and each winery offering different discounts every week.
