In planning our trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Fest this year, we decided to spend a few more days after the fest in Louisville and visit some of the distilleries there. Last year, the first time we covered the fest, we stayed a few extra days in Bardstown to do the same. So today I’m sharing what we have planned so far. If you have been to Louisville and have any dining or touring suggestions email me: Eve@EveWine101.com
We start our journey at the Moxy hotel on West Washington Street. It’s a four star hotel with free WIFI, and outdoor patio on Whiskey Alley and their Bar Moxy has a food truck like eatery inside: Zombie Taco. https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/sdfox-moxy-louisville-downtown/overview/
One of my friends from our Drammers club had made a few suggestions of distilleries to visit, I did some Googling to find a couple more we wanted to check out, as well as a couple of bars.
We want to make sure to stop into the Neat Bottle Shop and Bar for their amazing selection of whiskies and cocktails. It’s open daily and close by at 1139 Bardstown Road. https://neatbottlebar.com/
Old Forester on 119 West Main Street is only 0.1 mile from Moxy Hotel and highly recommended. We booked a $25 tasting there. We will also try to visit George’s Bar that’s in-house and open Tuesday-Saturday 10AM-4:30PM.
Next up will be Angel’s Envy at 500 East Main Street. Also booked the $25 tasting in the one time slot that was still available when I booked it two months ahead of time. https://www.angelsenvy.com/us/en/
Then a short walk away is the Evan Williams distillery at 528 West Main Street. We also plan to visit their ON3 Bar upstairs. Senior rate for a tasting there is only $17. https://evanwilliams.com/ewb-experience#id=copy-of-whiskey-connoisseur-experience-louisville
Kentucky Peerless will be our last stop (so far) at 120 North Tenth Street. It’s the furthest being 0.8 miles from Evan Williams and one mile from Moxy. We got a senior rate there for $20 each. https://kentuckypeerless.com/
We really want to go to Michter’s but they are closed on the Monday after the fest and we leave on Tuesday. They are located at 801 West Main Street and offer a tour for $25. We may try and hit The Bar at Fort Nelson, their on-site bar, before it closes at 7pm Sunday night. https://michters.com/location-hours/
