Not too long ago I reviewed a beautiful hand blown wine carafe by Glasvin. I was enamored by the sleek style and that it is dishwasher safe. Fast forward to today and I had the pleasure of reviewing a set of their delicate Champagne glasses. Below is a quote from them, then my review in easy to read bullet points, and finally more notes from Glasvin on a few of their other products.
“The Champagne glass is our glass made specifically for sparkling wine that keeps the traditional elements of a champagne glass design but unleashes the aromatics of sparkling wine perfectly. Each item is unique.”
Eve’s Review
- The Glasvin hand-blown champagne glass is absolutely the most delicate stemware I’ve ever handled.
- Just like The Carafe from Glasvin I reviewed before, these glasses can be cleaned in the bottom rack of the dishwasher, not touching anything else. Hand washing apparently can inadvertently break the stem. For me, they toppled in my bottom rack when I tried to place them in so I did handwash. Of note is that due to the thinness of the glass they dried very fast.
- The Glasvin design, a beautiful tulip, is meant for sparkling wine. But due to the shape I also found it acceptable for any aromatic white wine, that do well in the same style glass.
- The trim elongated stem fits nicely in the hand. A good reminder for people to hold the glass by the stem and not the bowl, which would warm up the wine.
- I tried the Glasvin out with wine, side by side with a non-Glasvin glass. Color, same, as expected. The aromas were more muted in the Glasvin, not completely, just an observation of the difference. However, after a few minutes, the other glass showed less aromas as well – and they were nearly identical. As far as the taste, I got pretty much the same flavors.
- The price of the Champagne glass, $79 for a pair, is very reasonable for the quality.
- Glasvin has over 30 items in their online shop, so if you are a wine or cocktail lover you must give them all a look here.
- The weight of the glass itself surprised me. Compared to other quality wine glasses the Glasvin is by far the lightest.
- Free Shipping US$199+ and 75 Day Trial.
Conclusion: Though the aromas and flavors in the wine was nearly identical in different vessels, the Glasvin makes such a statement I know I will be using this pair for all of my sparkling and still white wines.
