I first discovered the Moscow Mule while in Moscow’s “hipster heartland,” Red October. I stopped off for a quick one in the newly opened Podutsky Cafe and Bar. The head bartender, Anastasia Dezhnyova, and I immediately hit it off. That night, over several Moscow Mules we became steadfast friends.

This drink was traditionally served in a copper mug. Back in the 80′s, my friends mom had copper mugs that had logos on them with the words ‘Moscow Mule.’ We always used to buy Cock ‘n Bull brand ginger beer for the mixer. They had the drink recipe printed on the bottle.

Thanks for that bit of history on the ” Moscow Mule.” I always enjoy learning the background of things. I especially liked that the “Cock ‘n Bull” ginger beer had the recipe on the bottle. My next trip to Moscow, I’ll demand a copper mug … )))
