A Jewel of Authenticity in the Heart of Provence

Nestled in Provence’s Var region between Lorgues and Flayosc, the five-star Château de Berne – part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection – reopened its doors on March 7, 2025, kicking off a new season defined by excellence and refinement.

A genuine wine tourism destination, this Mediterranean estate invites guests to embark on a journey steeped in the spirit of provençale dolce vita. Set amid 1,270 acres of unspoiled southern countryside — including 370 acres of organic vineyards — Château de Berne showcases the art of living in all its splendor, a blend of authentic luxury, a vibrant terroir, and passionate, generous savoir-faire.

For this new season, Giuseppe Cosmai’s arrival as General Manager marks the beginning of a new chapter for the estate. With more than 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality, he brings a vision focused on long-term excellence. His ambition is to elevate Château de Berne and its luxury villas on the international stage, while preserving Château de Berne’s unique identity as an iconic wine tourism destination in Provence.

HOTEL

An elegant interlude at the heart of a preserved nature

Château de Berne welcomes its guests into 34 rooms and suites, each decorated with great care. Every detail pays homage to the authenticity and richness of Provençal heritage. Fine materials and natural colors subtly evoke the estate’s natural surroundings. At the same time, panoramic views of the hills and vineyards provide an atmosphere of relaxation, lightness, and timeless beauty.

The estate features three swimming pools, including two outdoor pools and one indoor pool. Each pool offers a space dedicated to relaxation, soothed by the gentle Mediterranean climate. The jardins à la française—true works of landscape art—invite contemplation amidst the soothing shade of umbrella pines and the gentle fragrance of lavender.

LUXURY HOUSES

Exceptional luxury properties for bespoke stays

The estate’s seven luxury homes offer a unique experience where privacy and comfort are paired with elegance. Each private property can accommodate between 3 and 20 guests and provides spacious terraces—most also feature a private pool— along with the château’s exclusive hotel services.

These exceptional houses, nestled in the heart of vineyards and olive groves, provide an ideal setting for stays with family or friends. Each grants personalized access to the estate’s exclusive services: spa, private tastings, private chef, cooking classes, wine tourism activities, and other tailor-made services.

GASTRONOMY

A Michelin-starred celebration of the Provençal terroir

Gastronomy enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Jardin de Berne through two exclusive dining experiences: the Table du Pass and the Salon des Vignes. Chef Louis Rameau invites groups of two to ten guests to share an intimate, behind- the-scenes dinner in his kitchen, offering a privileged moment with the chef and his team. At the Table du Pass, two guests are seated at an elegant wooden table at the end of the counter. They watch the kitchen spectacle unfold in real time, observing each precise move made by the brigade. For a more private and immersive experience, the Salon des Vignes offers an exclusive meal overlooking the vineyards, with a breathtaking view of the expansive, bustling kitchen. This private dining experience is accompanied by the chef himself, providing an unforgettable gastronomic journey at the heart of Provence.

Pastry Chef Éric Raynal, known for his subtle creativity, crafts desserts with delicate balance, combining light sweetness with powerful flavor. He dreamt of working at Château de Berne and quickly established himself as one of the estate’s most inspired talents. After just one season, he was promoted to head pastry chef in 2016. Today, he embodies dessert excellence across the estate’s venues, from the convivial Bistrot to the refined Jardin de Berne.

A true lover of local terroir, he prioritizes ingredients from the estate, even cultivating rare citrus fruits such as combava (kaffir lime), citron caviar (finger lime), and cédrat (citron) to inspire his creations. His signature style shines in creations like dark chocolate bark paired with a whisky-infused Orelys ice cream.

In 2020, he earned a place in the Michelin Guide’s “Passion Dessert” selection. He now leads a team composed exclusively of pastry chefs, ensuring precision and perfect harmony with the estate’s wines.

VINEYARD & WINES

The essence of Château de Berne

The vineyard, certified organic, is overseen by Alexis Cornu, oenologist and cellar master. The famous square bottle, a true icon of the estate, draws inspiration from the two 18th-century towers at the château’s entrance. A symbol of elegance and innovation, this bottle embodies the uniqueness of the estate’s wines, now recognized around the world.

Each cuvée reflects the authenticity and richness of the Haut- Pays Provençal terroir. The wines, produced in three colors— rosé, red, and white—express the finesse of the limestone soils and the unique character of the Mediterranean climate.
