Megan Gonzalez: “Some new wine-pairable items on the menu at The Poached Pair today!!”
The above message appeared on my Eve’s Wine 101 group wall on Facebook. Of course I couldn’t resist. And this is what I found, among other delectables at ThePoachedPair.com:
SONOMA
“A completely different kind of cookie, well suited for any time of day, but especially cocktail hour! Kalamata olives in a sweet dough make for a slightly sweet and slightly savory mix, pairing wonderfully with wine or martinis.”
For me the flavor was slightly akin to their popular Parmesan Thyme crackers (Buttery crackers reminiscent of shortbread, with loads of Pecorino Romano, a bit of fresh thyme, and cracked pepper. Fabulous with a glass of wine!) that I’d enjoyed more than once at a wine pairing. Megan, a true appreciator of wine, may have gone a step further with the Sonoma cracker/cookie. Crisp, buttery, and filled with just the perfect number of dark olive chips – a winner. What else could be better with a three-olive martini than a one-olive cracker? For me, I could only imagine the classiest of cocktail bars serving these little surprise delights. Or, in my own home, my favorite classy bar. Thanks Megan!
