2005

Pluot, toast, black cherry, mint, slight leafy vegetable, fig, earth; silky yet tannic, earthy, pepper, same cherry carries through from the nose to the mouth. Perfect.

2008

More pungent fruit, cut plums, blueberry, blackberry; Soft and round with delightful dark fruit against good tannin, black pepper, 85% cacao dark chocolate.  Perfect.

2009

Astringent nose due to younger wine, black cherry, bark, aroma reminiscent of being in a winery during fermentation; Black fruit, smoke, cigar, dry, fig.  Almost Perfect, just needs some loving care while it’s stored in MY cellar.

2010

Menthol cigarette, brambles, spiced up jam, black fruit; Silky, dry, fruit hanging in on the back palate.  Good now, better with food, Perfect in five or more years.

2001 Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, Botrytized, dessert wine.

24k gold color and sheen, Hawaiian pineapple, cantaloupe melon soaked in brandy; coated my mouth in both honey and fruit.  Killer dessert, add cheese or not, Perfect.

Conclusion: Perfect, Cub Reporter Eddie Bushman RE-JOINED the Reserve Club.

Trefethen

Trefethen Dragon's ToothProducing 60,000 cases, sold to markets, restaurants and club members.  Known for its Chardonnay in the past, now more known for their Cabernets and new dry Riesling.

2012 Dry Riesling

Wet stone, apricot, white peach; tiniest bit of acid on the very front of the palate, an easy drinker, same fruit profile as the nose yet lighter.

2012 Pinot Noir

Pale color, black cherry, stewed mushroom, raspberry and cherry; bright fruit, some bark, dry finish, good tannins and balanced acidity.

2010 O.K.D. Two

80% Malbec and 20% Merlot

Deep purple color, pungent plum, brambles, smoke; dark smoky black fruit, meaty, chewy, dry finish.

2010 Dragon’s Tooth

58% Malbec, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot.

I liked this one for its plum, vegetal components; coffee beans, chocolate grahams, tannin with a not-so-heavy finish.

2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Freshly picked plums and black cherries, mulled spices; a dry, dark palate and a pale hint of pepper.

2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Good fruit, allspice, juicy, milk chocolate, rich earth; dry, blackberry, cinnamon and good spice.
