Downtown Napa Official Wine Tasting Room Capital of the World

NAPA, Calif.– Napa Valley has enjoyed longstanding tenure as a premier wine region since making its mark on the world wine stage in the 1970s, and now its revitalized downtown within the City of Napa has a claim to fame all its own – earning a title as the official Wine Tasting Room Capital of the World.

Downtown Napa encompasses an urban area of about 1.5 square miles, and its 40 and counting tasting rooms spanning just 30 blocks represent the highest concentration of wine tasting rooms in the world.

“We couldn’t be prouder to be able to call Downtown Napa the official Wine Tasting Room Capital of the World,” says Downtown Napa Executive Director Craig Smith. “Ten years ago, people would drive past downtown to get to wineries up-valley, and now visitors and locals alike can make this their home base while enjoying a taste of the entire valley within our very walkable downtown, not to mention fantastic restaurants, great shopping, free parking, and lots of public art.”

Those seeking to indulge in Napa Valley wines car-free will find a welcome new walkable wine tasting experience within Downtown Napa, as more than a dozen new tasting rooms have opened in the last two years, ranging from casual sipping spots to ultra-luxe experiences – meaning there’s a wine tasting experience for everyone.

Downtown Napa’s “What’s Your Wine Tasting Type” personality quiz helps first-timers and return visitors plot their wine tasting walkabouts by matching them with a handful of tasting rooms best suited to different sipping styles.
