Review: The Interesting American Harvest Organic Vodka

Today we’re reviewing an interesting organic vodka, “Made in Idaho’s Magic Valley, American Harvest is crafted from organic red winter wheat and pristine Snake River aquifer water. Its remarkable smoothness comes from a single distillation — a rare approach that preserves purity rather than masking flaws. Certified USDA Organic, non-GMO, and produced in small batches, it’s clean, versatile, and perfect for seasonal cocktails.”

Now, the stage has been set, and I was curious about the vodka. The large front label itself was interesting – reminded me of a prescription bottle with a white label and red borders, black printing, and below the name of the vodka were statements that included the variant noted as “the original”, where it was distilled and bottled (Rigby, Indiana), being certified organic by Oregon Tilth and the USDA, initials of the grain farmer (KM), where the grain farm is located, and made from 100% organic red winter wheat. I appreciated all of the information. Similar to a bourbon bottle that shares its mashbill recipe.

Tasting

When I review a spirit known for being flavorless and colorless I can usually detect some notes on the taste, and at the very least whether the spirit is generally harsh or smooth on the palate. Smoother being the better. Also, just an FYI, organic doesn’t tip the scales for me as it may for others. So, let’s see:

American Harvest Organic Vodka

Color of clean clear water, with aromas of ethanol, lemon, vanilla bean, and wet stones followed by a round mouthfeel of vanilla, toffee and lots of spice – which doesn’t mean harsh. I know its distilled from wheat but there is no wheat that lingers on the nose or taste. This is a great sipper on its own, and I predict perfect in a cocktail. My first choice would be an Espresso Martini to capture those vanilla notes, my second would be a Bloody Mary for the spicy notes.
