From Jeff Jacobson, the Wine Chair of the Vine 2 Wine CLASSIC:
This year’s Vine 2 Wine CLASSIC will be held INDOORS, on Saturday August 18, from 6:30 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., at the City of Santa Clarita’s sports complex, inside the Activities Center building: 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, just east of Golden Valley.
We’re expecting 50 wine tables, food pairings (a varied selection, from grilled tri tip and chicken, vegetarian Italian, salad bar, charceuterie, cheeses, etc., etc., desserts, …
An expanded beer garden, with a terrific selection of craft ales and lagers, with food pairings, such as sliders, bbq pork, sausages, etc.
We’ll have a fabulous raffle (several fabulous bottles including a magnum of the 2007 Wine Spectator wine of the year, with other worthy bottles)
As an added attraction, to help with the Circle of Hope’s fundraising efforts….they will be offering tastes of 1863 Bual Madeira (from the year of the Gettysburg Address, Emancipation Proclamation, etc.) to the first 40 people who donate $100 for that unique experience.
People interested in volunteering to help out, should contact the Circle of Hope’s offices at 661-254-5218.
Jeff Jacobson is looking for some qualified wine pourers, to pour for half the time and drink and eat for the other half. Of course, pourers are required also to sample the wines they will be pouring, so they can discuss them with the crowd.
Interested pourers should please email Jeff at email@example.com.
www.vine2wineclassic.com Tickets are available online for $65 + a small handling fee, in advance. At the door of the event, on Saturday evening, August 18, the price will be $75.
Now named the Vine 2 Wine Classic, and in its eleventh year, this blockbuster of an event combines the highlights from the previous Vine 2 Wine, which had been sponsored for nine years by the Betty Ferguson Foundation, and the Santa Clarita Valley Wine Classic, which had been sponsored by College of the Canyons for twenty years, attracting more than 50 wineries and 750 people, until it was discontinued several years ago.
Last year’s Vine 2 Wine Classic featured unlimited tastings of upscale wines (and of beers in the Beer Garden, as well as delicious foods) for the single price of admission, had 40 tables where more than one hundred different wines were poured, including dozens of rare, older “library” wines. It attracted a crowd of approximately 500 people and was held in the Mann Biomedical Park. This year, we are moving the event indoors, and expecting a larger crowd, for an elegant evening of wines, beers, foods, live music, a raffle of expensive, rare and desirable wines, a silent auction, and much, much more.
Note: Due to the nature of the event, guests must be age 21 years old and over
