Michael Larner is not only a member of the Santa Barbara’s Vintners Association, but he was also an integral founder of the group that proposed the Ballard County AVA. Although Ballard Canyon is located in the Santa Ynez AVA, its unique soils and climate help to produce distinguishing red grape wines, such as Syrah, Grenache, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc and white grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne, which allow it to have its own AVA . |
